Does anybody in here play punk?

Made my living playing in a Hardcore Punk Band in Southern, KY for 6 years. My wife and I were the young ones of the group by about 10 years. The older guys were so elitist that it made me never want to end up like them. This is why the band is no more + the casualties ripped us off bigtime. Thanks Jake. He was going to release our 7" on Charged. We sent it in, never heard back from him & thought, "Hmmm that's odd..." A few months later their Newest album came out. They blatantly took tracks from our album, changed a few words & called it their own. Even the artwork is nearly the same.

I've moved on to other forms of music now. Still doing a pre 77 style punk band with some friends of mine just for fun, but the main gig I got now is in the Stoner Metal genre, although it's not entirely metal - more like Electric Wizard hooked up with Walk Among Us Era Misfits and had a horrendous love child named Suncrusher. It's fun though, not having to write about overthrowing the system, and staying young forever. Now we write about Horror films and Sci-Fi, so it's all good...

This is a great thread with some excellent posts, I salute you all

I still listen to the music that I loved when I was 16, I am now 48 !
I still go and see a few bands I liked in 1978, The Damned, Stiff Little Fingers and they are still excellent acts, The Damned go from strength to strength and are my favourite live act .
I saw Hayseed Dixie last month and they have a bit of the old punk spirit about them, meaning that they buck current fashions and do their own thing, very good band too .
I love New Model Army tunes and saw them a while ago, whether it is classed as punk matters not, its all lively and fun music which excites and has real life meaning, none of these bands are big corporate money makers, they do it because they like to make a reasonable living doing their thing, I had a nice chat to Captain Sensible in the bar at the last gig in Camberley, very nice down to earth man, it always makes me laugh that The Damned have largely been ignored by the british media who seem to love The Clash, musically The Clash were nowhere near as good, listen to their albums for proof of this, I saw them and they were crap in comparison, but they had more `punk` atittude ?
I play in a middle of road rock covers band so love many music types but `punk` always has an edge for me , probably because it is the music of my youth !

I've been in punk bands, and some stuff I jam with people is Social D, Ramones. I can play fingerstyle, but I like the pick tone. I play a P-bass with flats for everything.
