Does anybody *not* have an awesome rig?

i have a couple of crappy amps.
i have a Yorkville BLOC 80 combo and also a Crate BT200 head useing a old sub woofer 15" cab.

I had the 50w crate with the small speaker. Still plug in every so often to remind myself what it was like.
My rig as it stands with me being 16 is: DIY 4X10" cab driven by a Crown XLS 402 and using a Line 6 Bass Pod XT live as a pre. A little step up from my 80's era Peavey Combo 115
I only have me rig because I saved my booty off and worked for it. The parents didnt help, and I dont have a job. Im 16, too!
I saved for a year, including 2 Christmas' and 2 birthdays, plus report cards and allowance. I did it.
I love my rig. And I started on a Behringer 45 watt combo, so a rig is a nice sound.

My first "rig" was a Lafayette tube amp with a 15" Jensen speaker.
Too bad I didn't keep it. Maybe the Smithsonian would have wanted it....

I played a Japanese copy of a Hofner Beatle bass through a Kalamazoo Bass 50 amp (probably about 25 watts and 2 10s). I eventually graduated to a 1966 P-bass and a brand new Fender Bassman. This was in 1967 (!).
My Laney RB1 (30W 8 inch combo) gets lots of usage at the moment. I get bored and run my MP3 player through it. My dance and rock songs sound equally terrible, but hey, it's louder than my PC speakers! 
Squier P-Bass actually sounds alright, for a practice amp.
I plan to upgrade at some point. How soon, I'm not sure.

I can guarantee you that if you are easy to work with and have a great attitude along with being an excellent musician, that there are many gigging bands(even with older guys) who would do almost anything to have the low end covered in their band by someone like that. They would beg, borrow, loan, steal, whatever, to get a rig for you while you got your money together for your own.
+10 on the suggestion to concentrate on your playing. The rig doesnt' make the player.
If you got 2 6x10 Bergs, a 1000w per channel power amp, 2 31-band eq's, a great tube pre-amp, a compressor, etc., you would still be at the same level as a musician.
Would you be ready to play out and be part of a serious working band with that rig? Maybe yes, maybe no. Point is, talent/skills will out with whatever rig you're playing.
I suggest you take a look at what you have instead of focusing on what you don't. You can do it. Many TBr's started with less than what you have.
BTW, I'm like a lot of guys on TB, start small, get a job, save money, upgrade, get in a band, make some money, upgrade.....rinse and repeat.

I guess in the bass/amp dept. I was pretty damn lucky.My first bass was a late 60's-early 70's sunburst P-Bass.
As for the amp dept.,I was very lucky there too.Now,remember,I received BOTH of these rigs along with my P-Bass for Christmas,which also happens to be my B-day,too.
My "small" rig was a 50-watt Fender Combo.
My "Big Rig" was an Acoustic 370 with an Ampeg 4x12 (V-4,I think?) guitar cab loaded with the best bass speaker JBL was making at the time.From what I can remember,it had pretty much the same dimensions as the SVT 8X10 cabs.It was DEFINITELY a beast!
I guess I was very fortunate to have family in the music biz.My dad purchased the gear from his uncle,who has had couple of #1 songs on the gospel charts some years ago.My great-uncle knew that I really loved that bass.It would be the first thing I would head for when I would visit as a kid.Oh,well...Memories.Wish I still had ALL of that gear!

i gig every weekend with a fender rumble 100 combo with a single 15 and a horn. my bass i bought used from a guy and all my effects i bought new. i'll be honest, i'm thinking of getting a nice, new big rig, but i dunno if i really want to. i can tear down in about 5 minutes and carry everything i have to the van (thanks to casters. casters make the world go round 
) by myself in one trip. i sound good, i can hear myself, and that's all that matters.
i didn't play bass when i was 16, but i did play drums in my high school's jazz band. i had a practice pad on a stand and a kick pedal that hit a pillow taped to a chair and i was first chair out of 6 in the jazz band. everyone else had nice kits. not me, man, i sat at home and woodshed for hours. i figured if i didn't have a drumset, i could still be good at drums. payed off in the long run.

I have the aforementioned Fender Frontman 15B. My first big amp was a Crate BX80.
I haven't had a summer holiday for the past 4 years, and Ive worked every Saturday since I was 16 too. Work, and you'll get money too.

I've been using a Fender Rumble 100 for a while now. Haven't needed more until now, and I'm quickly building up some cash reserves for an Avatar 410 cab and an undecided amplifier (most likely a Gallien-Krueger, but we'll see.)
Really though, kudos to anyone and everyone with determination and desire to improve their playing or rig or whatever it may be... because it will happen with the right amount of effort!

It seems everytime I see people post their amps on the site, I always see amazing rigs that I can't help drooling at. Ampegs, high-end GK's, Bergs, Marshalls, Edens, Epifanis, Markbass, and the list goes on. Well, I'm a 16 year old high school junior with no job (hopefully that will change soon) with this whopping powerhouse as a rig:

Yep, painfully puny compared to the big rigs that are the norm at TB. So this is a thread where I want to see people post their crappy, small amps. No good rigs allowed. Post away.

I started out on guitar. When I was 16 I owned a bass but no bass amp. If I wanted to play bass with a group I would borrow a Kustom 2x15 bass cabinet from a friend and drive it with the amp section of my Fender Twin Reverb.
When I was 15, my father fixed me up with a Sunn 200S he had repaired and then I saved up for a used home made 2X15 cab loaded with Altecs.
That rig carried me just fine till I was working fairly steady and upgraded to my
'73 SVT with dual 8X10 cabs, covers, dollies, the works.
My father co-signed my first bank loan to buy it and I paid it off early establishing my credit.

Hey, I played a gig on Friday night... private function at a club for around 100 people. My rig consists of:
Behringer BX1800 combo
Squier CV Jazz
My band has 2 guitars, loud drummer and vox. I didn't have to turn up over 1:00, all night. After the show, I got plenty of comments on my "great sound".
So much for Behringer being "cheap crap". Go figure....
Well I am 16 and I have a 60watt fender rumble. Its alright, but not even loud enough for band practice anymore. So I'm in the process of upgrading to something a bit more louder.
