Does anybody *not* have an awesome rig?

At the moment my rig is a Line6 Toneport GX that runs into the aux input of my stereo - 50w driving 2x4" and 2x1".

Quality stuff. I do have a Warwick though, which makes me feel slightly better - a new rig is my next purchase. I have got a 120w Behringer combo at home, but my sister needs it more than I do.

i still own my first bass, and i'm considering giving it a fret removal... just to make it more MINE.

anyway... my first amp to go with the stage guitars 4 string p/j clone was some i believe 15w POLARIS 12" combo. i can't find anything about this amp online anywhere...

anyway, i then had a GIGANTIC 2x12 cab and some sort of head i don't remember that i ended up selling for gas money. i had no clue when i was younger. i had a ton of awesome gear at once that i no longer have. i didn't have G.A.S. but i had PETROLEUM! :( shame...

nowadays, i use a peavey black widow 15" in a paradise 1x15 cab, and i used to use a peavey mark III head, but traded in for a behringer 300w ultrabass.

honestly, i really love the way this 15" sounds, but wouldn't mind a better head. the behringer is pretty rad and all especially for the price, and it has been super reliable and gigged heavily... but... there's something better out there. something more portable with 300w 15" and COMBO and LIGHT... or even 2x10.. (MARKBASS)

but one of those is a month of work!

doesn't matter to me anymore. most gigs your bass rig is for your ears only, and soundguys just want to run you into their direct box. losers. the sound i obtain is BECAUSE of my speaker! MIC ME TOO!

I started out playing my bass (quietly) through my guitar amp. I've also played though other less than ideal amps over the years when I either didn't have good equipment or didn't have the luxury of using my own for one reason or another.

Good gear will come to you! Keep the faith!

Pays to be in the right place at the right time. Still have all of it and it plays great. That PBass is worth a lot of money now but I wouldn't sell it for the world. It's my heirloom.

I went down the my local music store and picked up a no name p bass copy for $150 and a peavey combo with a 12" speaker and 50 watts of solid state heaven for $250. $400 cash was all I had from working all summer, so they got me out the door at that price. I was 15, and life didn't get any better! Makes me appreciate my SWR, Mesa, and Bag End gear now though!

basically if ur gonna gig,ur gonna need the wattage.i see alot of guys on here are obsessed w/ 'big name gear' and thats cool. i am on a budget and i use pEAVEY cOMBO 300 that i picked up for $150. i put a cheap ART tube preamp in front of it along w/ a Boss limiter enhancer that i picked up in a closeout bin at a music store and it sounds great and delivers plenty of volume as well as a very useable EQ. just keep ur eyes and ears open and you'll be fine.

i started playing when i was 14 years old. a buddy of mine needed a bassist for his band, so i learned and practiced on his Peavey combo with an 8" speaker, and gigged on his Ibanez soundwave 60w combo. when i turned 15, i decided i wanted an amp of my own, so i picked up a used Crate BX100. i flogged that amp to hell and back, but it never failed me. i sold it a year later for what i paid for it, and went for about a year not playing. then another buddy of mine knew i played, and asked me join a local cover band he was in. i joined up, and not long after, the band took off, and i picked up an Ampeg BA115 100w combo and a Squier vintage modified Jazz. that amp had the sweetest tone, i really miss it. after a few months, i sold the Ampeg, and picked up an old 400w BiAmp head and a Hartke VX115 cab. i quickly learned that i am definately a "combo" guy, and sold this and purchased a Fender Rumble 210 with money left over. with said leftover money, i picked up a pristine '94 Fender P from a local pawn shop. i couldnt be happier with my current setup...it's efficient, easy to move, and more than enough with PA support. the Rumble sounds great, too. So, my current setup is for the Cover band...

Boss LM-2B (running compression duties)

and my setup for the metal band i've just joined...

i'm also workin' on gettin a decent effects board together, and I'm only 18!...dont sweat your combo, it's plenty :D

I've got a Squire VM 70's Jazz, a Fender Rumble 100 and a Zoom B2.1u. This setup seems to be working just fine for me.

GASing for a MarkBass Mini CMD 121P. Maybe in a year or so. I figured if I have really good gear people will expect that I can actually play.

When I first started learning to play, I borrowed a friends bass, and just plugged it into my stereo receiver. Blew the 8" speakers in my Bose 501s, but that was mainly because of how old they are. It turns out that after 25 years, the rubber edge of a cone speaker deteriates and turns to a flaky mush. I replaced the cones, and can now play with it if I had to. Once I decided to really get into playing bass, I got my SWR Workingman 10. I still use it for gigs if I don't need the power and loudness of my Yorkville stack.

In high school, I had a cheap Korean or Chinese bass plugged straight into a Yamaha powered stage monitor. It actually sounded pretty good until the guiter player decided he wanted his monitor back :crying:
At home I would play through a Zoom 9001 with the headphone out plugged into my Philips stereo. And using the tape deck I could record myself. That setup put the recording studios to shame, well studios that were around in the 50s
I just got back into playing again, and just bought a Genz Benz Neo-Pak, hopefully I will get a deal on some speaker cabs soon

Well, I'm a 16 year old high school junior with no job (hopefully that will change soon) with this whopping powerhouse as a rig:

it will change soon....you will be 17 year old senior with no job.......but you can only hope......at least your not a drummer or guitard......
