I just want to pump my gas in peace without someone telling me to buy me more stuff. Or worse, entertainment news. I don’t care about the latest up and coming fashion trends or hairstyles out of New York or Hollywood. I’ve only seen one pump where you could mute the content, and I’ll be damned if I can remember where it was.
Buy a Tesla, problem solved. Seriously, didn't realize gas pump TV had become "a thing" until I had to make a trip in a rental van - yeah that sucks.
Yes, it is lame. As a sports fan, my ears perked up when I heard them introducing sports news so I paid attention. Ends up that the sports scores and news they were reporting was a few days old. -Mike
No. That would be like getting annoyed at the fonts on the digital sign. Or cigarette prices, even though I don't smoke. Then again, I may not hang out as long as some of you. NO WIRE HANGERS!!!
Did not know they had that. I drive up to a pump, a Man or Woman comes to my window and I say, "Fill it up with 87." and hand them my card. After a few minutes they say, "All set." and I say,"Have a good day!" and am on my way.
I always feel uncomfortable when I’m in a state/province that requires an attendant to pump. I feel like I should be tipping or something.
Just wait until they start putting TV's in public restroom stalls. You won't even be able to have your few moments of privacy without being subjected to commercials about ED or Taco Bell.
Makes me even more determined to get exactly 1.000 gallons of ethanol-free 90 octane for my two-stroke stuff. Which, btw, cost me $4.49.9. I will not be distracted. Nope.
So pointless. As if I might find being hectored by a voice on a small screen attractive. So alienating. My hat is off to the outfits that convince station owners that "Gas TV" is a good idea. Talk about lipstick on a pig!
Back in the late 60s when I was 16, I worked at a SOHIO (Standard Oil of Ohio) gas station. No such thing as self-serve back then. It was very common for hard up folks to stop in and get $1.00 worth of gas. Probably the $2 request was the most popular. @ 33.9 cents a gallon, one buck got ya almost 3 gallons. Perhaps 50 miles down the road, depending. Today, one dollar will get ya about a quart and a pint of gas in central Ohio. Sounds like Washington State's gas prices are similar to California. OUCH!
There was a movie I saw where the tv screen could tell when your eyes where watching. The program wouldn't continue until you watched all the advertising
