Does anyone have ONE BASS thats their favorite?

I'd join. I can't imagine preferring another bass over my Corvette. It's as perfect as a bass could be for me.
You get a more hollow midrange-y sound with the cap engaged. Like using just the neck pup with a little extra snap to it.
I generally prefer the standard 'modern' tone, but for some songs I like to pull the pot, and back off both tones to get more of an upright-ish sound depending on where I pluck.
It's just a little added versatility.
The modern tone is a very throaty growl with everything full on, not the same as a 4001 at all. the pups are wound hotter, the pots are different values, and the construction is subtly different, but you could probably come close to a 4001 tone by changing the pups and pots.
I'm very glad I bought mine, and I think the push/pull pot is a good idea, and well worth adding to older basses.
It's not something I'd use all of the time, but it's nice to have the option to use it whenever you want.
Very nice. I prefer the newer hotter PUs, but the 4001 neck is pretty sweet.

Mine is g&l tribute l2500 cherry color rosewood, that the only I have left, iuse to have yamaha bbn4III, Warwick proline five string ashbody and nature what I trade for my tribby. But I wish I had alot of money so I can get more than one bass

I've flip-flopped basses alot the last couple years, but right now the only one i tend to play is my candy apple red 55-01. It's reliable, verstaile, pretty light, looks good and fits in pretty much any situation musically. Wasn't too expensive either. Here's some pics. Cheers!

Found it in a pawn shop. It's a MM clone, with the toilet-seat pickguard and block pickup, but someone was so ashamed of the off- brand that they sanded it off the headstock. I liked it as soon as I picked it up, it just felt right (except a few frets were sharp, so I filed them).
Now has: Hipshot tuners, EMG MMCS 18-volt pickup system, which came with Switchcraft pots (thank god), new laquer on the headstock, and Elixir Nanowebs mediums. It goes "boom."

This is kind of funny! I went off searching for a picture of just my Hoppus P bass with Carvin SB400 neck, and all the pictures I could find are of the two of us together. There are quite a few pictures of the two of us together. Outdoors playing a party tent in the woods, to playing in church, to bar gigs and beyond. I guess that speaks volumes about who daddy's favorite is!

Doesn't get the love it deserves though, as I don't gig it out, just for rehearsing and studio work, can't take any chances of her getting stolen. But I gig out my SECOND fave bass. My 1975 P/J (fits in the mix better with my band anyways)

The new necks are pretty close, a little wider, maybe a tiny bit thicker. Very much easier to adjust.
I highly recommend trying one.
Yep, I've got a 2002 Squier Affinity Precision, strung with Chromes that is my favorite bass. I love it!!
