DOES ANYONE HERE USE ROUNDWOUNDS????

Just went back to Rounds after a couple years of Flats.

I use roto 66 swing bass rounds on 3 basses, La Bella flats on 2.

I prefer rounds, but after deades of using exclusively rotosound swing bass 66... I grew tired of the 'ting n zing' and put flats on my Rick, as I was into more blues and less inro British Prog.

I daresay... you can back the tone off when using rounds and sound like 'metal flats'...but flats can never sound like brand new rounds.

Depends on what the song calls for, when you are fortunate to have several basses to choose from.

Got four basses. Three of them have rounds - either Roto 66s or La Bella Super Steps.

I tend to vacillate between half rounds and flats, however, I've been playing some ebmm stingrays at the local GC and those particular rounds pique my interest. If I were to pick up some sort of mm type bass (really the only bass I'd currently want to add on top of my sixer) then I'd certainly become a rounds user...

Nothing but round wounds on the Music Man and Warwick... Nothing but flats for the P bass. It is just what sounds best to me on them.

Actually i fave some flats on one bass and Rounds on the other. Honestly don't like flats but it's just not my thing.

Flats aren't good for many things I do and are much higher friction. Only like them on vintage style hollow body basses.

Rounds only for all intents and purposes. I play flats when paid to and only after trying rounds on a well eqd bass first in a session.

Is it unusual to use roundwounds? I don't know too many fellow bass players that don't use roundwounds. I thought they were the standard.

Rotosound 66 Rounds are great! Just put them on my P and it sounds great!

I was going to say that for me, flatwounds sound like dead roundwounds, but you beat me to it.

Six basses three with rounds and three with flats. I put flats on my American Jazz as a trial and will be going back to rounds this weekend but really like flats on my Precision's.

I got my foot caught in a bear trap once. Nearly starved, and after three days of exposure I bit the bullet and used the A string from a set round wounds I had in my pack to saw off my foot at the ankle.

Not sure why, but the A string seemed to work best. G string was less painful but man it was taking forever.

To anybody who refers to flats as "dead" it is obvious that they have never played a good set of labellas or even some Ernie ballss very lively sounding flats especially the labellas
