DOES ANYONE HERE USE ROUNDWOUNDS????

Rounds for me for sure. I got a few sets of flats to try to see what they were all about but I just spent all my time wishing they played and sounded as good as rounds.

This explains it for me, too!

Flats are enjoying a resurgence in popularity, and they do last forever.

BTW, I use flats on my P, RotoSound 66 Stainless rounds on my PJ and J.

they sound like **** right out of the package, and continue to sound like **** in perpetuity.

Another fad, like tattoos, body piercing, and instrument relic'ing, that will go away soon...

Funny I'd say that users are in the minority. If I use rounds they have to be heavy and dead.

Switched to LaBella deep talking black nylon tape flats on all 5 of my basses never going back.

Had a terrible experience with flats when I first started playing. Been using roundwounds ever since and never looked back,

Both. I bought my Precision just for Chromes, and then bought Chromes for my fretless.

Everything else is equipped with rounds, because I still find them to be an essential tool.

Maybe all the posts about flats has to do with the difficulty of getting a decent tone out of them.

Then why bother trying? They are harder to play and often less flexible too. So if good sound is so difficult to achieve... Why bother?

Glad to see so much love for rounds. Played a set of flats for a short time, only benefit I found was that there was no zing when I moved my fingers. I have learned how to play a bit better, and have much less problem with this, plus you can't really hear any zing when you are playing with drums and guitars. I can turn tone down with rounds, can't turn tone up with flats.

I'd say the majority of bassists I see in rock bands use roundwounds. This forum is not representative of most bass players (on many issues and topics).

Having said that, I now prefer flats. I used rounds for years and converted to flats last year when I bought a used bass that came with flats already on it. That was my first experience with flats and maybe I'm still in a honeymoon phase with them, but I don't see going back to rounds.

I don't like round wounds. They are too noisy for me.

Not that they need it, but a tiny bit of fast fret can reduce string noise dramatically.
