LOL!!! I don't know, because I am not thirteen and playing in a in a punk band in my parents garage. (Not that there is anything wrong with that. We all gotta start somewhere)
Yeah, that's pretty much what I figured too. But I hoped somebody might have some trick that I hadn't heard about. Ya never know.

you could try Valma Commandant 4, it's silicone-free

The problem is it's a finish/UV issue. The stickers protected the original paint where the stickers were, that was the color of your bass originally. UV and smoke and dirt and grime from the years mellow and often yellow the unprotected areas.
Stripping it down is one option, or you could tape off the bass in the other spots for a couple years to get the sticker area to mellow like the rest of it.
It doesn't look bad from a distance or in a dark club, I'd say live with it and play the heck out of it.

Hefty tan lines indeed. Cleaner wax couldn't hurt but that's close to 20 years of stainage. It is Poly and sanding could work but I would not be confident enough in my abilities to reapply the finish. Maybe just a really light sanding alone could do the trick.

I'm thinking you could park it in sunlight for a few months to see if the finish would sun-bleach to a more even look.
I know a guy that buffed the 'yellow' out of a white Gibson with rubbing compound... not sure it would work for this, but it's cheap and only takes some elbow grease to see if it will help.
