Does anyone make a 5 string BEATLE bass?

There is a small block at the bridge but the strings go through body in an empty part of the body between ferrules. I only have one string that goes through body, the A so I am not terribly concerned. Not sure if I understand what you mean by "Can you send the string end around the inside, and miss the top hole?". If you mean putting on new strings yes it is a trip getting the string to come out the right top hole.

Yeah, what I meant was, is the string tip able to move around inside the body after being threaded it through the back ferrule, so that it doesn't find the exit without some trial and error, to which you've answered affirmatively. Odd. I guess the back and top aren't so thin that they may be damaged by the strings, after all.

Thanks for the reply, and for being an early adopter and reviewer of the instrument: I've seen a number of TB members wishing the product existed beside the OP, and they can get one now. It would be cool if a reputable middleman stepped in, like Rondo Music and/or Thomann, for the customer's peace of mind.

I'm talking to them about making me a custom 5 string carven model in black finish.

That was my feeling also. I just don't want to be without that low B (I have a custom 6 string with both a low B and an even lower F# string). If your pups come in as crap go for the GFS Wild Dogs or equal (I think that they are back-ordered as of now). They are direct replacements and they sound great for all of the strings, both the G and the B and have strong enough coils to handle a bass.

Please let us know what you think of it. I had one on order and cancelled as I just had a bad feeling.
I have been playing it for a few months now and it's my new favorite bass. The pickups are good, just VERY deep. I thought the Low B was weak until I ran it through a spectrum analyses then a bigger amp. HUGE fundamental. The low notes are not what they sound like through a practice amp. Records well too.

Buried in DHgate search engine... which is awful, are this pair of ES-335 style/type 5 string bass guitars. #1, Invalid Link Removed . I bought this one a few days ago & the wait !, the wait !. DH Gate says it should get here by the end of Nov. Let's hope. This one have Fender type tuners, archtop type bridge & it resembles the cherry burst color of my REAL Gibson rare & prototype 5 string LP (more on that bass later). This bass web page didn't have links to more expedite deliveries with DHL, FedEx, etc., like what I've seen on other DH Gate musical instruments. Only thru EMS which I don't think stands for Expedite My Shi.. . More on this "seller"/"store"/supplier, next post .

On the DH Gate picture of this bass, embedded was a watermark that said "Starshine". I searched this brand & came with this reviews, All About Starshine Guitars - CMUSE & Link Removed . I think that Starshine has changed name brand to Zuwei & this is their ebay link, p276130516 | eBay Stores . Maybe Starshine still is the factory brand for China. Zuwei is the brand name for ebay. Maybe Zuwei is Starshine in Chinese & it all get lost in translation, right? ...

well, this is the other, 2nd 5 string ES-335 "look alike" bass I found & even as it has features I find a little bit more appealing... like Gotoh style tuners & a more adjustable bridge; the price is 100 bucks more. Since I also became a H Gate member with the purchase of the cheaper ES-335 bass, a less expensive "trial run" was a more logical way to test DH Gate. The "seller" of this one is "happystore201908". Whereas the cherry burst Es-335 is "Yazuyueqi" & he promptly replied me, albeit with not much info that I ask him for. Maybe also lost in translation?. Any how, this is the bass url & the picture taken from the web site, Invalid Link Removed . What it seems a "hole" in the lower control knob section, actually is a strong reflection; something that any decent photographer would not let go by unoticed

. The DHGate urls for "happystore201908" & "yuzeyueqi" are, Invalid Link Removed & Invalid Link Removed .

Now... to the "Horner" 5 string Beatles bass. The DH Gate url & "seller" named "guitarstore2017", plus a picture from the website; Invalid Link Removed & Invalid Link Removed . As you can see, comes with Gotoh style tuners & similar if not identical bridge as "yuzeyuegqi" ES-335 offering. If everything goes or is OK with the ES-335, the "Horner" 5 string will be my next order from DH Gate & it's seller. I almost bought a used REAL Hofner 4 string Beatle bass. It had a way too high action & consulting with a violin, cello, etc. string instrument luthier & repair tech; it had no fix. I did bought for very cheap when I lived in Miami, a rare semi-acoustic Rickenbaker, identical to what is pictured in the middle/inner sleve

cover of Deep Purple's original "Smoke on the Water"/Machine Head album. Next post, bad issues with thin neck semi-acoustic basses.
