Does anyone play Mustangs?

I just got a new MIJ and it's great. It's not nearly as heavy as an old musicmaster I had. Anyway, a great bass regardless of it's scale. I play it through a Mesa Walkabout and that amp makes a bigger difference in my tone than each particular bass I own. They still each have a character but not worlds apart in sonic quality when plugged into a good amp.

My '77's been modified for a wider spectrum of tones.
Humbucking for neck pup and a jazz pup for the bridge.

If anyone else has seen an Antigua finish for another Mustang lefty, please let me know.

It's a great sounding bass, very fast neck and much lighter than a P or jazz bass, which is really appreciated when doing 4.5 sets a night.

I've been looking at short scales; tried the Ibanez ARTB100, an ESP, and several others. No sense messing around at my age; it's going to be the Mustang, vintage white (it will go nicely with my vintage white '86 MIJ P-bass).

I've only tried out Mustangs in music shops and I've always loved them, even strung with roundwounds like they always seem to be when hanging up in shops. I imagine they must sound lovely with flatwounds.

Is it true that the older Mustangs had special built-in string mutes in the bridge assembly?
