Does anyone recognize this bass?

I got this bad boy from a shop in Montreal (in liquidation for a broken knob, and the logo being removed). It was labeled as a Lado H600 fretless, but it seems nothing like what I’ve seen of those online. Any leads?

Hello. It is a J. K. Lado Bass.

I don't know anything about these basses, found it on google: J. K. LADO SUPER FALCON II 1981 Natural. SOLID WOOD BASS. Incredible Sound. HANDBUILT. Beautiful.


It appears that the J. K. stands for Joseph Kovacic hand built.

The wood below looks unharmed.

Perhaps the water slide decal did not adhere properly to the headstock and is lifting, taking the clear with it?

Regardless, Lado was a fine builder.

Lados were a Canadian made boutique bass. They were somewhat of a take on the Alembics but had their own unique style. Steve Harris from Iron Maiden played and was endorsed by them around 83. He played the Unicorn model but only for a year or two before going back to his main P bass.

These are current Kijiji (Canadian CL of sorts) in Toronto. No afilliation other then posting for others interest.
My bass tech used to work at Lado, then moved on the building violins from scratch.
