Does anyone remember the old TalkBass?

It's been a while since the TB overhaul. There were a lot of complaints and people who said they were leaving. It seems certain folks (myself included) post less than they used to. But now that I think about it, I still remember the opening page, but that's about it. I've gotten used to the new TB and find it very easy to navigate.

Curious if any fellow TBers are still salty about the transition. Or have most settled in?

Never mind the TB format...how's your Wrangler? (°|||||||°)

I've adjusted for the most part and I'm good with the changes. The changes didn't cause me to post less. I don't post that much in general like I used to say, 6/7 years ago. I go through phases really. But I haven't posted here like I used to since then.

Nothing to do with TB really. Well, maybe the dynamics of TB/forums/internet/social media in general has caused me to not be too active like I used to. Some people act like idiots and the way some choose to participate in discourse or how they disseminate information got to me so 've kind of grown away from a lot of it over the last handful of years. But I'll just admit it's me, not social media/the internet. I don't have time for the b$ anymore and quite frankly, my life feels lighter because of it and I'm really not missing much.

I prefer the new classifieds...I've spent way less $$$ than in the previous version...🤣
Agreed!! That's because there's no more KeyWord alerts to let us know the very second that piece of gear we don't need pops up in our email!! LOL!!🤣

I am resigned to the change. A lot of things, for me, were easier with the old TalkBass, but that is Darling Clementine now. I'm just going to have to up my learning curve with the new system.

More than the old Talkbass, I miss the old TalkBassers who rarely or ever post here now. To quote Fangorn, "These...were my friends. I knew their names."

I preferred the old home page and the old search page. The new site can also freeze up if you have a bunch of tabs open, such as opening up a bunch of classifieds ads. Otherwise I see it as neutral-to-positive.

I used to surf it.

Man, threads went fast on the "new posts" page!

You'd click refresh and everything would be different!

Come to think of it, that still happened up until the change!

Now, it's dying off. Fast.

I was on a car forum for years and years and years frequented by older folk like us here (face it, ain't no youngins' here no more). It stayed active just like the old TalkBass did. New replies every few seconds. Then, the site had a massive re-do, and the site instantly turned into a ghost town. 90% of 'em tried it, hated it, familiarity was gone, and they left. Never came back.

The site's still there, but it gets about 3 posts a day.

Kinda like the forum on Rickenbacker's home page, or the bass forum at RickResource. You go there, and you can feel yourself dying.

Sad.

Still salty. Having a rough time navigating here, still, and see not a single advantage yet. Just a lot more things to have to click. But that's not what pushed me out of here...

Once upon a time, like on Facebook and other social media, we had the ability to delete our posts if we decided maybe we shouldn't have said something. I'm thoughtful about my posts, but there are times I don't realize until some time has passed that MAYBE what I posted wasn't such a great idea. Whelp... if that happens here, too bad. It becomes written in stone. Things can and do show up in internet searches too.

Much safer to discuss stuff now in FB bass groups. Lots more experience there, too.. Das all. I'm really sorry this place has changed as it has, but hey...

I remember the Alamo!…
