I've watched that video several times now, and darned if I keep missing the part where he demonstrates the superior throughput of his cable.![]()
Yeah - totally irrelevant misdirection. Which their business is all about.

WRONG!!!Wrong.
Tony and I spoke at length before I tried both cables - and he mentioned to me it was his goal with the Forte to sound as close as possible to the Lyric HG.
So my "predisposition" was that they would sound very similar. I honestly didn't have any prepaired thoughts/opinions.
Being the Lyric HG is a solid core design, and Evidence Audio's "flagship" cable, I thought that would win me over. But TONE ALONE - I prefered the Forte which is multi-stranded.
So I went into testing these two cables thinking they would sound extremely similiar, and if anything, the solid core Lyric HG to win me over. The exact opposite happend.
Now what are you going to tell me?That I "imagined the 'lesser stranded' cable sounding better because I felt bad for it" ??
And how would you suggest I do this "testing"? Plug in a gazillion cables and listen to them? Whether I thought I heard a difference or thought I didn't hear a difference, it wouldn't prove a thing.I'd suggest you go, do some testing with a range of cables.
You too may just hear a difference.
It's quite apparent , in a few instances.
Yeah, and would you drive that Ferrari around wearing a T shirt from Wal*Mart? You are only as good as you look.Yes it does make a difference. Would you fill a Ferrari with low octane fuel? Then why run a high end instrument through some crap $5 generic cable. Your signal chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.
I gave up awhile ago. People believe what they want to believe. And how would you suggest I do this "testing"? Plug in a gazillion cables and listen to them? Whether I thought I heard a difference or thought I didn't hear a difference, it wouldn't prove a thing.
Maybe some marketing type will tell you that they matter.... The electrons don't care.
So you're telling me I wasted my money on my getting my gold-plated Monster MIDI cable coated with extra gold?
I not only heard, but felt the coated stranded cable respond a tad quicker to my playing style. What is so hard to believe about that?
your perceived differences could very well have been imagined.
Or the other horse**** about arrows indicating the direction to keep the electrons flowing properly. Monster is not a good value, sorry. They are well made but so are many cables that cost less and have lifetime warranties. And they don't break jacks. And they use lies and distortions of science to sell cables. Skin effect...electrons only flowing one way...lol!Actually no. The Monster cable will outlast a cheap cable by 10, and when it finally does crap out on you, you get another one free, forever. Over the long haul Monster is a good value, just don't believe that horses**t about better tone.
Stumbling around this evening I ran across this:

It's a short explanation of how fast electrons actually move.... which turns out to be about 84 millimeters per hour through a .1cm copper wire. Not exactly sure how much bearing that has on this discussion, but I found it interesting.
