Does color matter to you??

I almost passed on this bass (top pic) because of the color, I would have rather had black or sunburst (which Bongos don't come in) or sky blue. But the neck was so pretty and she played so well that I couldn't resist. So this bass is my number 1 bass right now. But if I saw the regular purple one (second pic) hanging on the wall I wouldn't have even tried it out.

Solely based on color...yes.
Typically if I want a particular bass, I want it configured a particular way, including my choice of color.
I dont typically buy investment instruments (vintage) but in that case the color wouldn't matter as much or at all, but if its a player, which most of mine are, I want to enjoy every aspect of it, feel, sound, looks.

it's fun to see/hear everyone's color likes and dislikes. i regularly tease that black is the best, but the fact of the matter is that no color (or 'look') would prevent me from rocking an instrument which fits my preferences and checks those boxes which are important to me (feel/playability). i already play one ugly instrument (avatar)....i would play another! puke pink: bring it on! :laugh:

Yes. Can't stand red and will always prefer Sunburst. I would love a Silver Burst and I would love a Bass with Nita Strauss's color design on her signature guitar.

I love how the head-stock matches the body. Love the color too.

Yes, sometimes it does . The tone, feel, and all around performance is priority for me, color is last.on the list. However if I had the option between two Basses that play and perform the same, chances are Id go with the one that I find more visually appealing to me...

Yes. I owned one black bass and will never own another. I was tired of waiting for the 3TS Jazz which arrived with its head stock snapped off above the nut and settled for a black one. I'm cool with just about any other color. I don't get as excited over Fiesta Red as others seem to. It just looks washed out to me.

first i find a bass that i like that sounds good, then pick the colour scheme i like. Although i have to say looks are very important tto me and having a bass that you love the look of makes playing it more enjoyable. for me, if it dont look the part, i wont consider buying. but i still put sound and feel at top priority though. Nothing is more important than it sounding good and then feeling good aswell cos it maakes u want to play it moree andu enjoy it!

Tone & playability come first. As far as color I used be "black basses only" crew years ago. But now I'm part of the "anything but black basses" master race.

Unless it's natural, sunburst, or antigua. Or anything with tort. Some rare exceptions have been made.

And while this does cross over into the realm of bass shape... I'm not usually a fan of basses that look like moldy amoebas.

Absolutely! I have dismissed many an otherwise-great bass simply based on the finish. I look at the selling price, factor in the cost of a paint job and freight both ways (to and from the painter), and if it's too much, I keep looking. This mostly happens with natural finishes.
I should learn how to do guitar finishes; I could set up a spray booth and not only save money, but maybe make some extra cash on the side! :D

I don't like red, bursts with red in them, or cherry. Dunno why; don't like red on cars either. Sadly, my first guitar, received as a gift at 14, was.... candy apple red. Lol.

It's important to me but I buy mostly used and always overlook it for price. I have a stealth black stingray- hate the color, bought a cherry red fretless jazz as my main player- hated the color but the tort pickguard helps and it has grown on me, am picking up a black aerodyne today which I hate the color, but can't pass up a mint aerodyne with a HSC for $500, but man I wish it wasn't gloss black.
