Does everyone have an "always on?"

I think I need a compressor/limiter to control the peaks that occur with fuzz > filter.

Beyond that, I love the wide dynamic range of my bass. So twangy and punchy. And yeah, I do control that aspect with my fingers, but kick in the fuzz > filter and no matter how softly I play it makes my ears hurt.

Limiter or maybe low-pass hunting...

Always on - graphic EQ, chorus (very light settings) and the on-board compressor in my PJB M500 head.

Occasionally on - noise reduction pedal, but only when playing my passive single-coil equipped basses.

My only "always-on" is the MXT bass comp, and the overdrive I get from my amp by cranking it up between 4-6 and using a power-soak to bring the volume level down to a reasonable volume.

But I probably have my Mobius on for 30-50 of songs. I am a total modulation whore.

An [sfx] Thumpinator (integrated into my custom [sfx] 3- channel preamp/DI) and an Empress Compressor are always on. Otherwise my pedalboard is very sparse: Polytune, volume pedal, OC-2 and Zoom B-2, on bypass 99% of the time.

Always on -> Diamond Bass Compressor. It sounds so amazing, I think I appreciate the "tonal improvement" aspects of it moreso than the utility of the limiting. I didn't used to run my Empress Comp all the time, but the Diamond will never be shut off!

EDIT: Last night at band practice, left the MultriDrive on for most of the songs on a light OD setting. It could become an "almost always on" pedal.

Screw dat. Always on at the time: MS60-B, LMB-3 and PBDDI. I try to kick the VT in as often as I can.

Yes it is and thank you. It's a '74. So I guess I do have an always on. This bass is pretty much always on. Me.


By the way, I use a bunch of effects. None of which are always on.

Rickenbacker with Rotos through a US made CL and a fridge. TAFM for extra menace when necessary, Flanger for certain things, clean boost for certain parts. Occasionally a BOD for fatness.
