I cannot believe that someone would do such a tasteless thing. After pondering the question, I would probably reply and/or think to say one or more of these:
1. I did not buy it to please you.
2. Don't you find it rather shallow to criticize what other people like?
3. Why don't you pull your lower lip over your head and swallow yourself and disappear?
4. What do you play? See, I didn't make fun of your bass (or whatever instrument).
5. Well then, don't buy one.
6. Although looks are important, it's the sound that counts.
I do realize that people have different tastes in basses as with anything else. If someone does not like what I like, then that's okay too. But to openly walk up and critcize someone on a posting and bash it? Nope. A definite lack of class. :scowl:
On the other hand, if someone doesn't like something, then agree to disagree agreeably. Say something like "they are not my cup of tea" or "I prefer other things". If someone gets upset about that, then that is silly as well.
All in all, be respectful of others. As my late father stated to his highly opinionated son: "Think about what you are going to say before you say it".
