I voted A. Size matters to me, because it is linked to weight and convenience. Light, loud and small is what I've been playing since 2007.

I rarely get FOH, so if an A4 size combo sounded like my current rig, I'd buy 2. Post It note size, I'd buy 3.

I think a drum kit analogy is important here. Nothing dorkier than low/medium volume Hotel lounge gig and seeing a double kick/seven tom/nine cymbal monstrosity. Playing simple 4/4 snare kick high hat is used 95% of the time. An SVT rig in the same room makes me laugh just as hard. There's also something about hearing comments like: "Wow! that huge bass tone is from that one little box?

B. Size matters. My amp has to be big enough to support a Deluxe Reverb sized guitar amp, so that Pete can hear himself. I’d say at least two feet tall for small bar gigs. If I still had my big Ampeg stack, I would use it at large venues or outside gigs, mostly for the visual. It’s bad enough that I drive a wee Tacoma when my buddies drive real trucks. Ain’t gonna stand in front of no post- it note. What are you thinking? Sheesh!

So you're saying a lifted cab and a lifted truck would give more street cred, I guess? :bassist:

I vote C.

I like my Khan DI. And if there’s no IEMs, a side-wedge will do. I’m a big fan of no amps on stage. It looks so clean.

So before OP wakes up and responds to every.single.post :rollno:, I’ll stick with C for carrots.
(Then I’ll invent the IEM in this wacko universe and make a fortune!!)

Scenario: No IEMs/silent stage/etc- actual rig needed to cover the stage, PA support only sufficient to supplement the house. Cost/stage/venue/genre are also not a factors.

Note: I can't cover every possible particular, I'm hoping to avoid tedious semantic arguments- please try to get the gist of the poll question; thanks. :)

Poll choices:

A) If I could have a rig the size of a single 2-inch Post-it note with tiny little controls (use your imagination) that I could literally stick to the wall, the drummer's forehead, or wherever I like, that would be my preference. I'd take pleasure in how small and light my rig was, even shamelessly brag about it on TalkBass.

B) I have an actual size minimum for reasons of aesthetics, showmanship, feel, romanticism, toxic masculinity, small peener, not sure why...

… and that minimum size would be (please share).

Thanks. :)

and a post-it note amp.

I think you posted this in the wrong thread, it doesn't fit this one. :)
How so? The bigger the space I have, the louder/bigger the amp I want. I say this with near total disregard for others.
Rock’n’roll is not about convenience and subtlety. Bravado on stage isn’t something a band only has at certain gigs.
I’m saying the Ramones were cooler than the Jonas Brothers. That’s a better analogy.

Wall of doom at your next gig. Sorry for mixing cabs.

B vote here.

I feel like I understand the A voters in here. Personally I would need some visualization of "bass sounds" for the romanticism of seeing a band play live. It was magical all growing up and I'd love to share that with the future. Again, I understand A votes and even the idea of magical 'bass from this post it note' is cool. I feel like I'm allowed to like multiple things, so happens I like B more.

Could be anything visually similar to a svt cl on a 2x12, DI + pre-pedal on a 1x15, dare I say up to a MB200 on a 6x8 or 6x10
