Cheers,

This is another MJT/Fender parts build I just finished. It's Olympic White Relic with Fender Roasted Maple Vintera '60sJazz neck.

I have been known to make poor choices in Pickguards. Does this Tort need to be changed to black? Other color Tort?

Well...
First of all... it's your bass. Do what you want to, with it. If that tort pickguard doesn't make you gag, every time you look at the bass? Leave it as it is. Or, experiment to your heart's content - whichever you can afford...
Personally? In my world - EVERY tort pickguard needs to go - immediately, if not sooner. AFAIK, tortoiseshell should be limited to 4 things;
1. A tortoise
2. Nerd eyeglasses
3. Granny's hairbrush; and
4. The scales on really old pocketknives.
I have #2 and #4; they're nice. Especially my old Camillus knife; a Muskrat style folder, with Persian Clip blades...
I've only ever had two instruments with tort pickguards. A '90's MIK Epiphone Sheraton II guitar, with a very small one; and my '24 G&L Kiloton lined fretless bass. I sold the guitar (not because of the pickguard, though), and as soon as the replacement Cream/Black/Cream pickguard for the Kiloton shows up? - There will be no tort pickguards to darken my doorstep... :whistle:
