Dont do drugs kids

Reminds me of a 'Bassist Wanted' ad I saw pinned up a local rehearsal space a few months.

To gently paraphrase: "Bassist wanted. We are two guitarists in our late-30s looking for a bassist. We have our own rehearsal space and record and produce all our own material. We are going to make it big. Our sound is a mix of '90s alt rock and grunge".

Basically sounded like two dudes who want more folk to party with.

I know a few responsible and sober people with delusions of stardom.

By careful though... if the drummer gets to accustomed to you driving him home he might sell his big rig and buy a Prius ;) and of course he'll expect you to drive him and his set to every gig....

Why you tryin to bag on a Prius? Hell I have a Prius V and with the back seat down I could haul an SVT , 2 basses and the drummers double bass drum 15 piece kit AND the drummer in it too.

Sounds like the guy who hired the bands needs to do a little more checking up on who he's hiring lol.

Good thing is your band came out smelling like roses.

Well a bit more of a backstory: The guy who hired this band at one time owned a bar/club in PA and apparently he used to hire these guys all the time, apparently they used to be great and would consistently pack the house. From my understanding these guys were a great band at one time...apparently that time has passed

That guy is making it harder for the rest of us. Next time, the host will probably just get a dj.

I doubt it, knowing that guy and his love for live music, I think he'll just hire us next time because he loved our set.
Whats funny is how unprepared I thought we were, we had a mixed bag of a PA, had to send someone out to burn half my pay for mic cables, we only had one practice with the full band and we smoked these guys on the professionally front. Despite all the problems we had, we only hit 5 min late and had the party up and dancing within 5 songs (a rarity for a backyard party IME). We warmed up that crowd so well that it should have been like shooting fish in a barrel for them and they blew it

Good one. I still get offered a hit of this and a snort of that from time to time, and I'm always apologetic: "Man, I'd love to, but I cannot play when I'm like that."
exactly. I may have a few beers but no more than a few. Having one's playing impaired sucks. Been there. Got by on pure muscle memory. Couldn't think at all.

I love these kinds of ads. We're going to make it big (under the assumption it's still 1996)!

I've got a 2012 Prius and was amazed by how much I can cram in there. On a recent gig, I hauled an upright bass, an electric bass, two guitars, a 2x12 bass cab, a guitar amp, two PA Mains, two monitors, and the PA head. And the guitarist. I'll have to post pics of it...

REALLY?... lol I used to jam with a drummer who always made me and the guitarist come to his tiny practice space with the excuse "my drummset won't fit in my prius".... I'll have to have a word with him ;)
