I see you didn't trade so this is moot, But unless the Tele bass was a complete dog, I would have made that trade. I have one of the Modern Player Telecaster guitars and it is fantastic.
I was surprised at how poorly the bass looked. I also have a MP Telecaster Plus in charcoal grey. It is an excellent guitar in every aspect. I wanted the bass to be right, but this one didn't fit the bill.

I have no idea what these sound like or how they compare to your current line-up; that's easy enough to figure out by listening to sound clips and vids. But it sure is a cool aesthetic.
EDIT: Oops, just noticed the Tele bass is a dog. Oh well, next time maybe.

That was my thinking too, and I REALLY wanted to like it. The neck-pocket gap wasn't the only issue. The brass saddles were tarnished worse than some outdoor furniture; the control nobs were flaking most of the chrome off, and all the POTs had excessive crackling or hissing.
I could check it out again tomorrow, when I have more time. It's at a local guys studio and he swaps gear daily. OTOH, it might be gone by tomorrow.
So you are asking a bunch of bass players with gas issues weather or not to buy another bass? This will not end well for your Shecter I am afraid my friend!
I've made no secret of my disdain of Fender basses on TB pages. I don't think they're bad, but they aren't as good as many people think and they certainly aren't unique. Nonetheless , I actually like Tele basses.
Tele basses are better than P basses, however, a Tele is inferior to a Jazz bass.
In all seriousness, get the Tele.

Take the $100 and buy some flats and a nice match for a strap

Sell those basses and buy the American Geddy Lee Jazz Bass. If it came other colors I may consider getting it but I already have a black american jazz bass that I'm attached to. The neck on the USA Geddy is amazing. Fender did a perfect job sanding the back of the neck to make it smooth.

In this instance, I think I'll be alright with not getting a Chinese knockoff of an American classic.
Another thing I didn't mention is how far off the pickup pole setting were from the bridge sting placement.
I'll toss up the Craigslist link, and I promise it looks much better in the pictures than in real life.

Again, I have no problems leaving it behind; and I like the guy dealing it. I got a MIJ Geddy Lee off him just a couple of weeks ago. This just wasn't a good example of that bass.
Interestingly, a Telecaster bass does not have a Telecaster body. The strap button is in the same place as on a P bass, so no more neck dive than usual.
This is really a question for @Nobody : given a Fender Telecaster bass is from a factory of origin more known for Squiers, and doesn't have a Telecaster body, should it be called a quasi-Fender not-Telecaster?
It is a "Tele" body. It's just that it's a 70s Telecaster Bass body not a Telecaster guitar body. They were basically just slab P bodies with different routing for the different pup configuration. The are a different evolution of the original P bass that Leo got right the first time. What has always confused me is why did the P bass need to evolve if Leo got it right the first time? I don't know... I'm just a jerkweasle. My guess is that rabid brand loyalty causes people to say things they don't actually mean because they haven't actually thought it through. Wait..... what was the question?
