Don't Wear Shorts

Playing from 5:30 to 7:30. Called "Tower 7". I think my buddy is just subbing (and checking out some gear of mine he might want to buy!!)
If the shorts are MIA, sunburst in color, with a tortoise shell belt, they are acceptable under any circumstances.
Here's something no one has brought up. There's also "stay times" based on the index that when reached require a 30 to 60 minute "cool down" time at a certain temp. I have a heart condition that makes me susceptible to hot temps, so at a summer outdoor gig (or non AC indoor one) I might wear shorts. Is it 1 or 3 sets?, under a tent or out in the open?(in the sun adds as much as 15 degrees), day or evening gig?, full light show?, yes I always have my fan & water. I know this all to well as at work I'm required to wear, at a minimum, a half mask respirator but most times a full face one. Also have to wear Chem 3000 suits that make you sweat more than any sauna ever will. So all ya'll talking about being "pro" it's a given your not just standing there like a statue, but moving at least a little bit causing yourself to heat up. Otherwise your not entertaining the paying customers, & sure not "pro".

Who really cares? Wear what you want and wear it proud... It's all in HOW you wear it.

OH MY GOD!!!! WHY DO WE CARE SO MUCH ABOUT SHORTS!? This is TalkBass not TalkShorts. For crying out loud... No need for anyone to catch feelings. If you like to wear shorts and still get gigs.. Wear shorts. If you despise shorts for some weird, obsessive reason then; Don't. Wear. Shorts.
It's as simple as that.
*crawls off soapbox, falls, rolls around in pain, gets back up, realizes she scraped her knee because she was wearing shorts, brushes self off and noticed she's bleeding a lot, stops bleeding, limps inside, cleans wounds, takes painkiller but plays it all off like a boss*

Real he-men are confident in their sexuality and not afraid to wear shorts.
Like someone posted earlier. It's not about if shorts are correct or not, but wearing the proper attire for the venue. Heck ,this gig I showed up in my surf trunks, with bass and surfboard in hand. If not, we would have immediately fired from this lucrative $$$ ESPN gig. Some of this just boils down to your local cultures. I would expect the band dress is different in North Dakota compared to Hawaii or So Cal.

When I was a kid, rock and roll was all about rebellion and breaking the rule. Now here we are laying down the law? If you play rock and roll, do what ever the %^&* you want and don't listen to a bunch of old men (like me) who try to dictate what you should and shouldn't do when you play music. Express yourself! Be yourself! Play what you want to play on whatever brand of bass you want through whatever amp you choose and certainly don't listen to a bunch of stodgy old men (like me) trying to instruct you on...... your clothing? You know those articles of clothing you put on each day that help identify who you are that day. You do not have the right to choose here. You just don't! 
I know, right?! I could've used this time and energy to learn something, anything, that would have, could have, actually made some sort of positive impact on my life or my bass playing, but no, I actually spent my time in this fail of a thread. Hell, I could've committed a crime that would've been more beneficial than this thread...
