Is that a double entendre? because I don’t know what the hell else it could refer to
That’s pretty much a SINGLE entendre!
My favourite rock and roll double entendres go right back to Big Joe Turner’s original version of Shake Rattle and Roll...
“I'm like a one-eyed cat peepin' in a seafood store
I'm like a one-eyed cat peepin' in a seafood store
Well, I can look at you till you ain't no child no more...
...I get over the hill and way down underneath
I get over the hill and way down underneath
You make me roll my eyes, even make me grit my teeth.”
Ever asked yourself just exactly what a “one-eyed cat” actually is?
I think filth like this should be kept out of popular music
There's a long tradition of double entendre in both R&B and calypso especially. Some calypso and reggae:
Mighty Sparrow (and others): "The Big Bamboo" and "Saltfish"
Lord Kitchener: "Doctor Kitch" and "My Pussin'"
General Degree" "Pianist"
Bob Marley: "Stir It Up"
That one doesn’t need any entendre-ing, it’s already there. Not a case of ‘did they, or did they not just say what I think I heard?’."Only 13 and she knows how to Nasty"
