Hello all,
Over the Horror Times I made myself a fun parts bass using a Payson double P body and some EMG pickups among other things. I think it looks terrific and it plays great.
It is currently wired VVT which is fine but uninspiring. I was thinking about possibly adding some kind of active thing to replace the tone control. I was looking at the EMG BTC, which I put into another crazy parts bass (a Stingray-style bass) and i like it, but I was thinking something different. Maybe the EMG VMC mid control?
The caveat is there can only be one spot, and I like the idea of concentric pots. I would consider making it VB(x?) (like using an EMG ABC). Also it just dawned on me I could possibly use a concentric pot for the volume, so maybe there are two spots available? If it seems like I landed on EMG only, that's just my ignorance. Feel free to offer wild suggestions of other brands. I'm open to anything. Get weird.
I don't want to say money is no object, but I had actually thought of selling it, and when I priced up the parts I don't think I could feasibly get just my money back (in addition to the Payson bodies and dual EMG PHZ pickups, there's the Omega bridge, Mighty Mite neck, Hipshot UL tuners, boomerang, hardware etc). So in for a penny, in for a pound--why not throw more money at it for funky electronics?
