BTW, Doug Johns has the best P/J slap tone I have ever heard with the possible exception of Doug Wimbish!

I just bought Peter Muller (Marcus inspired) last night. I'm getting Doug Johns and Terrence Palmer within the month! Top it off, Meshell Ndegeocello's new CD is in the stores too!
This October is looking great for bass music!
I've had Peter Muller's cd for a while now. I also have Meshell's new cd. Not trying to persuade anyone away from buying it but it's NOT a 'bass players' cd.

I went on and ordered that Doug Johns CD. I may pass on Terrance Palmer thoough. He is a great player, but I can live without more "smooth jazz" bass melodies.
Just added [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] to my wishlist. It's not a bass player cd but it smokes with some excellent bass playing.
Sonny is crazy good! I got to see him perform with Adam Nitti a few years ago for Warrior Chrismas party, he definitely has chops. His work with EWF is amazing.
That's hot! Drummers make great band leaders, IMO, because they know that percussion alone won't carry a project, so they really think in terms of orchestration.
I just bought his album, and I've got to say that this is pure uncensored funk! Great player with an amazing tone.

Al Turner's CD is SWEEEEET!!!!!! A great showcase of a great player and his awesome Ken Smith!!! Doug Johns' CD is near the top of my list-groove city!!! Stanley Clarke's new one, which will be released tomorrow, is at the top!

Received Doug Johns' (& Byron Millers') cd Saturday. This dude smokes. He has a very high level of skill on the instrument but doesn't go overboard. He keeps it quite funky (albeit not old school funk but there are hints). Talk about the term groove..........he has it. Impeccable timing, I must say.
I'm still wearing the heck out of it! Hey, I tried to bounce an email to Doug when he annouced that Bp mag online lesson, which was hip! Anyway, hear tell Vic and Ant W. are coming up this way in April and was wondering if Doug's coming down for it. Didnt see Cleveland on the list, just Buffalo this time. April 5th date. Dude has a place to crash if his swings down to Buffalo tell em.
