Thx but they do look very different to my eyesThe shape of headstock of the Sadowsky you are using for the body reference is not terribly different from the Tele bass headstock.
So… maybe just go for a Sadowsky?
Pricey or affordable? Not very familiar with custom basses. Thanks! Can't think of any production bass but lowdown bass could make you one.
Check his [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and scroll down. For Fender'ish "Classic" basses, his prices pretty much follow the "Hybrid" price list. If you were fine with a natural finish, you could probably come out well under 2k.Pricey or affordable? Not very familiar with custom basses. Thanks!
yurp, I might go for a Warmoth if there's nothing else out there, thx!Warmoth parts comes to mind . Not many "dinky" j's out there
Thanks! I still don't know whether I should let a luthier do the whole job or should I get parts from Warmoth then put everything together myself.Check his [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and scroll down. I'm extremely happy with the 35" neck he built for my Jazz and the 35" Dual Darkstar Telebass he made for me. They were a fantastic gigging pair in my country band.
Those are both valid options. I've gotten better basses from Luthiers than I ever built myself. However, there is of course an added cost for their skills and in my case those basses are not entirely made of off the shelf parts.T
