downsizing, need a small combo.

I'm moving in with my fiance (yes it is possible for a bass player :) )
And we are moving into a 10x21 house. My big combo isn't going to fit. I'm looking for something that will fit into one of the IKEA cubes 13"x13"x13" does anyone have any recommendations?

10" combo will be largest I would think. I am getting one for a small room. IMO very few smaller than that will give a good tone. Used to have an 8" combo but didn't like it so much.

On the expensive side, Markbass Minimark 802; on the cheap side, Peavey MAX 12 II.

I knew you meant the 801. I had one of those and thought it was fantastic for the size (but expensive). Would have kept but didn't need something that small. Ended up trading that plus a GK 1x10 combo (also a good choice if you can find one) for something bigger since the space is not an issue for me.

There was a Genz 3.0 combo for sale on the TB classifieds last week - small, fun, cheap and *good*.

How about getting an Ampeg SCR-DI or similar DI/Preamp with a headphone out. Just plug a good set of headphones in to practice with and you'll be set. Handy tool to have in your kit for other reasons too.

I thought the the TC BG-250 combo made a really nice practice/very small venue amp. Lots of convenience features built in. Headphone out jack on it too.

Ah headphones! Good relationship-saver when inspiration or insomnia (or boredom) hits you at 2:00AM.

Absolute no-brainer. The GenzBenz 3.0 with either the 8" or 10" speaker box. I've been using the 3.0-10T for years as a great grab-and-go rehearsal/small gig amp. I also have the smaller 8" box which is surprisingly capable if used within reason. Tried this side-by-side with the pricey mark bass with two 6 inch speakers, and it wasn't even close - the GB was way better on coverage, and tonal flexibility.
