Dr. Bass BL1580 and BL1260 rig

The castor board that Marc builds is VERY nice. It has a 1" lip that holds the cabinet in place so you can push the system without having to worry about your cab sliding around on the dolly. It is covered with the same sprayed on coating as the cabs; talk about durable!He also uses some really sturdy 3.5" wheels.
If I didn't already have a decent dolly, I would have bought one.
I think they're pretty cheap too: $50.00 or less

Hey Blues Cat,

Marc and I were talking about your idea of a 1280. The 8 just works best with the 15. Plus we would have to increase the size of the 1260 cabinet.

But, if that's what you want, We'll build it. Call Marc late Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning. We'll be building cabs, but I sure he could use a break!!!!

If you wanted something a little smaller than the B1580, I'd recommend a 1260 + 112LF or 1260 + 115 combo. I think for a full range rig, the 1260 would sound best with a little assistance in the low end from either the 112 sub or the 115 from Dr. Bass.

Personally, I'd go for the 115! With the Neo 3015LF it would be pretty portable, nice and light, and provide nice strong low mids and lows.

I honestly think that two 1260s would be a little overpowering in the mids and upper mids and that you'd end up dialing out most of the 6" driver and tweeter in one of the 1260s.

Just my $.02!

Good 'ol Guitar Center. I walked in, asked for one, and about 10 days later it (and the matching gig bag) arrived. Since they didn't have one in stock, they gave me a break on the price and absorbed the sales tax! Couldn't have asked for better service or a better deal.

GC...who'd have thought!

Keep the cab dimensions the same but do the triangle port like the 1580 and the 12", 8" and tweeter should fit. The only change to the cab would be a different baffle layout, like the 1580.

I talked to Marc about the 1280 today for those interested. He said he's done it but it doesn't sound good, way too mid honky.

Yup, the GC on LBJ near Midway. Talk to a guy named Austin in bass guitars. Probably the most squared away GC employee in history. Totally professional, prompt, returns phone calls, etc.

I know....creeped me out a little too!

WOW!! My 1260 (w/the 500 watt ceramic LF) arrived today and sounds incredible! Sounds almost identical to my 1580 (w/ the neo LF). Stacked, they sound huge!

Can't wait to use the stack this weekend!! :bassist: The guitards I play with will be bummin'. :D

I keep thinking about picking up a 1260 after the first of the year. I'm trying to build a lightweight rig for jamming, and I'm torn between a 112 and a 1260. The 112 is attractive because it's so light, only 36 lbs. (with the Neo speaker) I beleive, but I just can't stop thinking about the 1260. That's such a badazz cab!

Anybody ever A/B the two cabs?

I think the 1260 + the 112LF would be very cool -- use just the 1260 for practices & small gigs, and both for the rest.

What types of 12" drivers does Marc have available?

Marc normally uses Eminence speakers. His neo models are custom voiced and have a higher Xmax than the standard Eminence neos. He also uses Beyma speakers (ceramic and neo). They're great speakers (I had them in a set of Concert Series cabs) but they are pretty pricey. I've been very happy with Marc's custom Eminence neos (both 15" and 12").

I'm sure Marc would be more than happy to discuss any and all things speaker related.
