I'm more than a little curious to hear what the pair will sound like together. My little B1500 oughta have enough juice for both of 'em, but I'm curious to hear what they sound like when they're being driven by my back-up rig (Yamaha PB1 pushing a QSC PLX 3002).

I can't wait to see the looks on the faces of my band mates when I fire up the 2460 and 1580 :eek: ; the new cab oughta show up just in time for a gig at one of the outdoor venues we play regularly, where the extra whump from a 1580 will come in real handy.

Now where'd I put those ear plugs ;)

Pick up the 1260 first and if it's not enough, pick up a 112LF. Still thinking about the 112 in place of the 1260 though just because it's lighter and I'm not sure if I need the mid driver.

I'd have to also try them stacked on their sides vertically with the midrange and hf up on top -- make the stack taller and get the mid and highs up closer to ear level).

I'm not fanatical about weight (yet...) -- I'd probably go with the Delta LF in the 112LF (or maybe 2 112LF -- one with the Deltalite and one with the Delta LF to go under the 1260 -- just crank the mid and hf level to balance the tone out).

So I check the DHL tracking site this morning and there appears to be no movement, so I leave the house. When I got home this afternoon, I see some packing peanuts in my yard.
Checked DHL site again and it says they attempted delivery but nobody home!
I'll be at DHL bright and early Sat. morning and hopefully will be able to pick them up!!

Which one? The 1260? If so, the published weight is 47 lbs. for the stock, ceramic woofer cab. The custom slant face version should be a couple of pounds heavier since the bottom plate is extended from 15" to 17.5" depth. Neo loaded, it will be about 5lbs. lighter I think.

Judging by the published sensitivity specs (which are generally the least accurate in loudspeakers), the Gs112 stack vs. the 2460 should sound fairly close in loudness given identical input factors. Although the 2460 might have a perceived edge simply because of the number of drivers.

Echoing greenboy's statement, it depends on the cab's voicing.
The 2460 should surely be able to handle more power though before breakup.

Given the fact that there's more radiating area in the 2460, forgiving any tuning/efficiency diffs, it should be perceivably louder for that reason alone like lbwdog says. I don't think it'd be night/day tho, and IMHO, even without hearing them side-by-side, I'd assume the 2460 would sound better with that 6 in there to help "close the gap" between the 12's and the horn.

Gigged the 1580/1260 stack last night in a small/medium small room. Waaayyy too much for the room. But ***! Right?? :ninja:

And I must admit, I was at least partly (well, mostly)responsible for a loud stage volume. But ***! Right?? :ninja:

Sounded great! Didn't go through the PA, and didn't need to. I had the 1260 on top of the 1580, but next time I use the stack, I'll put the 1580 on the 1260. That way each cab can be soloed the way I prefer to hear them: The 1580 raised and the 1260 on the floor. Our sub guitarist for the night is also a talented studio engineer, and he had a chance to step out into the room and listen to the group when a third guitar player sat in for a few songs and used his (guitarist #2s') rig. Guitarist #2 said the bass sounded great. Unsolicited, too. Made me feel good as the guy knows his stuff.

Eric, what's up with your DHL adventure? Didn't have to resort to anything morally corrupt, did you??? :eek:

What amplification did you use, if I may ask? Also, did you feel that either speaker could have held the small/medium small room by themselves?

My covers are coming next week, but I'm so glad I got these today. I'm gonna do like you, Geni, use bofuvvem t'nite, even though it's not that big a gig. Actually it's an outside Christmas party in Slidell, Louisiana. You guys north of here don't get to do many outdoor Christmas parties do ya?

I guess I shoulda shot this at an angle to demonstrate the slant baffle, but here 'tis. I should be set to mix and match now huh?

I have a cabinet just like that built by LDS. I would love to try out your cabs sometime too. That 1260/12LF stack would be killer with my MB SA450. I'm debating between having Don build me a 115 NEO or a 112NEO only voiced for deeper bass response - similar to the 112lf. Anyway, I like the 12/8 3-way setup a lot. We used a 5.25 w/ extended high range instead of a tweeter for a littler smoother high end.
