You didn't say if you sent the paypal as gift or goods.
The guy is a master at appearing reasonable until you become his victim. The second he doesn't put up his end of the contract open the dispute process. Doesn't matter if his momma died, his kid got sick, the supplier of crossover parts lost his order, doesn't pick up his phone or answer messages or email. These are his tactics to stretch you to 45 days.

To the OP: I have owned several Dr. Bass cabs and they are well made and sound terrific. Don't confuse the problems that people have had trying to get cabs from him in the past several years with the quality of the cabs Marc built back in the heyday. They are quite well-executed. I have a Slant 1260 and a 112 sub cab and have been very pleased with them.
Thanks guys. I've been playing bass steadily in bands since '68 and have been through tons of gear, lots of basses, club owners, crazy lead singers, angry road managers, broke down vans, you name it. At this stage of the game, I don't seek advice very often, but this is my first time dealing with a guy like Marc. Guess I've been lucky so far.
Not sure why you came on here after the transaction since you say you hardly ever come on the forum. But it's too late now. Hard to believe that this forum didn't come up on a google search with all the bad info about him.
If you can cancel the order immediately, I would do that. Otherwise, he said he'd ship in 7-10 days. On the 10th day, send him an email requesting a shipping confirmation. If he delays, start the paypal process. It'll lock up his paypal account and funds (if they're actually still there which I doubt) until he makes good on the shipping.
I did it a few years ago on an ebay transaction where the seller stated in the ad that the item was in stock and would ship in 2 days. It didn't and his excuse was that he had to get it shipped to him first. I locked down his paypal account and he wasn't happy but I did get the item but it took a bit longer than was promised.

I came on this forum for help, and yes I should have done this or that first, but hind sight is 20/20 like they say. I'm visual and my search for unloaded cabs led me to images, not this forum first. Seems I've offend some for not coming here and getting my facts first, but that's not how it went down. I occasionally come here to share info on my bass mods not to see if I'm hooking up with a crook or not. I feel bad enough about this situation as it is, so can we keep the admonishments to a minim please? Thanks!
I'm not offended and I'm not trying to make you feel worse. I thought I offered some suggestions on what to do. It's unfortunate that you got involved with that company and I hope it turns out well for you.
Just wait until day 44 and dispute it... DON'T let it get to day 45 without the cabs being in your possession. Don't give him the benefit of the doubt. If he wants to redeem himself, he can do it within a month and a half.
What is done is done. Now no need to lower yourself by trying to bail out on a transaction. If he does not fallow the letter of his statement of shipping, then take action right away.
What I meant by not knowing why you came to the forum was that you stated you hardly ever come here and then immediately after this bad transaction, you came here. Just wondered what got you here. That's all. Not really questioning why but more how you ended up here. Sorry if it came out wrong.
There's no way I'd wait 44 days. The promise was a week to 10 days. If he doesn't ship within that time, then file the paypal dispute without hesitation. If he then ships, you can then cancel the dispute.
Because of this forum I now know what may happen and I also know what to do and when. Thats pretty amazing actually. I appreciate all that's been said, and will have learned a valuable lesson or two, no matter what the outcome of this (or)deal. Believe me, I would much rather be discussing almost anything else bass-wise with you guys, instead of this.
By not doing my due diligence in the first place and then by consulting the forum after the fact, I see now that I do deserve some criticism for my part in this matter. I bought a USED cab from him that I had to file a dispute on. This was a cab that was 'in excellent condition, sounds great' etc. Literally ready to box up and ship, no assembly required. After weeks of excuses about why it hadn't shipped yet, I had to file a paypal claim that froze up his paypal account. He hurried shipped the cab I ordered, to unfreeze his account. What I got was another used cab on his website.
BTW, both the cab I ordered and the cab I got were still up on his used gear page for weeks after the transaction. Who knows how many people ordered those 2 cabs.

Here is my hypothetical scenario for an item/seller that I believe could be problematic. This assumes that the item has shipped exactly on time:
1) I would not allow any party at my receiving address to accept the package, or sign for package.
2) I would be the sole person available to receive package.
3) I would ask the UPS delivery person to wait as I open the package. My box opener would be in hand for quick open.
4) If the package is not exactly as represented, I would refuse delivery, and tell the UPS driver that item sent was not ordered.
5) If the package/item is damaged, I would refuse delivery, due to damage.
6) In the event of 4 or 5 above, the UPS driver will return the package to sender/shipper. The return will be documented on the shipper's original tracking record/number. The return shipping cost will be charged to the sender/shipper.
This is important. Since I refused delivery there has been no consummation of transaction.
7) I would go to my PayPal account and open a "dispute." I would escalate to "claim" status, immediately thereafter. The two reasons for dispute would be either:
a) Delivery of item refused as item not as described.
b) Delivery of item refused due to damage. Claim filed on seller's behalf.
Paypal should refund your account within days. Money will be taken from seller account immediately.
Say that the item looked great upon initial inspection. I would accept the package, signing for it. Once receiving it, I would test it. If it works, and I am happy, the saga ends.
If item does not work, I would call UPS and file a damage claim on the seller's behalf, due to hidden damage during shipping. UPS will then retrieve the package the next day. Elements of item 6 above would then be in play. Items 7 and 7b would also apply.
To the OP: (and I hope I'm not repeating this here in the event it's already been said) the search function on this forum is probably it's only lacking function. It's wiser to do a Google search of any topic you're looking for posts on and the TB posts will almost always show up in the first 3 or 4 listings. I'm not sure if TB pays to receive that positioning or if it's due to the tremendous traffic on the site but it does work.
Well, the week to 10 days that Marc stated the cabs would ship by has come and gone and my email from a few days ago asking for a status has also gone unanswered. I have opened a dispute with PayPal and requested either a firm shipping date or a full refund. I regretted having to take this action since I had hoped that he was going to do better this time around. I fear now I may join the ranks of the unhappy customers that he's mistreated in the past.
I am sorry it has gone this way. You have kept up your end, time to protect yourself or wind up being one of those with over three years of promises and no money/goods to show for it. 
Since you had a firm shipping deadline, getting another will just give him more time to hide your money if it's not already irretrievable. You cannot show the slightest sympathy or give the slightest slack to this criminal. It's refund time.
I think you're going to end up OK on this, since you've started the process with PayPal.
