DR dropped by to share vids

You HAD to know that every bass player here, meaning everyone, was going to go straight for Sara Lee's KILLER KILLER KILLER KILLER of a line on Love Shack, and see how you handled it.

You didn't.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want to have to sing and play that figure at the same time myself, but if I couldn't, I wouldn't, know what I mean?

The band is passable for a weekend warrior act, but just that: passable.

Sloppy, pitchy, and frankly amateurish beyond requiring a cover charge at times. But, that being said, there are some nice moments, and plenty of GREAT attitude and energy.

I would suggest a bit more wood-shedding with some of those lines, like Love Shack, that are very specific because they anchor the groove. The drummer gets the Love Shack beat BIG time. With your level of chops and stage presence, it should be a snap to get that together, right? And yes, it DOES matter!

I'd also suggest a vocal rehearsal, a vocal rehearsal, a vocal rehearsal, and then perhaps a vocal rehearsal. Even "singing" the Fred Shneider part requires artistry/ears. Fred may sound like he is just yelling, but he is yelling VERY specific pitches, that are actually right in key for the harmony stacks the B-52s employ.

As Bob Babbitt always says: "serve the song, satisfy your soul."

So, where were your patented "stage moves"? For all your boasting, all I saw was a guy wandering around in shorts unfit for any stage, anywhere. :hiding:

Hack bands can be a great deal of fun, but don't for a split second think you have one up on any band.

Really nice job with All She Wants To Do Is Dance, it outshines all the other tunes. You guys have all the right tones, and the girls sound tight!

I'm pretty sure all of you would be fired.

You're missing the reason the other bassists were not valued. It's not about playing the song, it's about playing 'the part.' This band succeeds on other levels, which are more important to non-musicians. For example, Sweet Home Alabama: I'm sure the floor was packed and everyone loved it, but as a musician I wanted to unplug various members of the band and put on a cd. It was not the original, and yet not a remake.

Deluxe, I think your outfit is great. You movements are fun and not over-the-top. The lighting is fun and energetic. As a musician, the music/mix/etc. drives me nuts, but I can enjoy the overall vibe. Party and good time band. Thanks for the videos, they are very nice. The drummer also gets kudos for holding everyone together.

Sorry dude,

You are WAY too egotistical for what you and your band are putting out. A fun party band? Maybe?

Wrong or over simplified bass lines on every tune, mediocre guitar work at best, and singers who can't stay on pitch. I'm amazed your drummer has not fired the whole lot of you.

It's OK to be a average player in an average bar band, just no need for the trash talk when ultimately you don't have the chops to back it up.

The smartest thing you can do at this point is go away and go away quietly. Then buy some headphones and take the time to get at least some idea of what the actual bass lines are in the songs you play. Then when you do that, DON"T come back here thinking you are all that. Just do your job for your band.

Good luck to you bro.

Once again DR sticks his head into the poo, and then runs away. Not surprised. I would insert the tosser smilie here, but this site is PC.
