Drug Overdose may have messed me up...

I've only read the first 2 pages - give it 2-3 days to wear off, if its still happening go to the doc...

I agree with whoever said "smoke the real stuff", AFAIK nobodies ever actually died from it, and few people actually develop permanent life-destroying problems...I remember once I saw a prog about all these fake-high things - a doctor basically said "kids are better off taking the ILLEGAL ones - at least we know what their effects are and so know what to do with them..."

If you read the OP, you would know his "overdose" happened in July. I really don't think it will clear up in 2-3 days from now if it hasn't worn off in about 5 months.

Dude, I'm married to a psychiatrist. I see psychiatry all day, every day. I see the good, the bad, the ugly, and incredible success. I know what goes on.

Any drug has potential to hurt. Look at the OP. what article on the Internet did you read to give you expert opinion?

You cant say that with absolute certainty. Im also critical of doctors overprescribing meds but Im not so jaded as to accept that they are never necessary. Some people actually do need meds to alleviate problems and balance the chemicals in our heads. Im not saying the OP needs them, but Im not a psychiatrist, and its possible he might.

Good practice in psychiatry is not about just "drugging him up". That's the stuff of movies and tv shows...and Scientology.

Probably not wise to make such comments in regards to Scientology, as it'd violate the "No religion" aspect of Talkbass. And just because that poster is skeptical of psychiatry does not mean he is a Scientologist, which he says he is not.

Just stating a fact about the group. Thanks for being the Kwin Police.:) <---------Note the smiley.

...and to say he's skeptical, I think is an understatement.

I'll leave this thread alone. Plenty of people have told him to see a doctor, and maybe he needs a little more specialization than a GP.
As to the whole pros/cons of use or not, I don't really have a dog in that fight.

I smoked a LOT of that stuff. I noticed the same problem once I stopped. Meh, that's why they're called drugs.
I think you meant "that's why it's called dope". ;)

Medications are also called "drugs". Not all drugs are harmful but even the medicinal drugs have side effects and adverse effects. Recreational street drugs usually have little to no medicinal value but they still have side effects and adverse effects. Some can cause substantial damage to various body tissues (e.g. liver, brain, heart, etc.) but since they are "recreational" their use is not monitored by a physician so most of the damage they do goes unnoticed until the problems become serious.

Couldnt have said it better myself....

Good thing my father didnt think psychiatry was BS; he would have been dead now because of his bi-polar disorder. And I'm not being dramatic; he nearly committed suicide when i was just a little boy. Thats what propelled him to finally get help for disorder thats been running in our family for generations.

Please people, unless you know what you are actually talking about, shut it. If you want to believe something is BS fine, but dont try and sway people with your ill rhetoric. Giving someone your personal advice on a bass or amp is one thing, but with something so important as life, lets leave these discussions to someone with a little more clout.
