Drummer nicknames.....

Speed Racer??

We named a guitar player that years ago. We were in our mid 30's and he was a young kid that answered our ad for a 90's/2000's rock band that played Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls etc....

Well, speed racer shows up for the audition with more pedals than I've ever seen and proceeds to do nothing but shred up and down the neck for the entire time...... Picture Yngwie trying to play Plush by STP and you'll get the picture... :D

Inspired by @BassCliff referring to his current drummer as "Bam Bam", I'm curios as to the names others have come up with for their drummers.

I've had a couple bam bams in the past, I've also had a guy we called Fed Ex because he was on time, all the time.... and I've had a guy we called El Droppo because he dropped sticks constantly.

Our current drummer has yet to receive a nick name..... he's heavily influenced by Dave Lombardo and he is one of the best I've worked with.

Before anyone thinks I'm picking on or bashing drummers..... I'm not. I started out as a drummer in 1978 and switched to Bass in 1995. I understand the role from both sides.

The Incredible Schmidthead!

I played with a drummer who's nick name was 'Mad Dog' - he was originally from Alaska and had moved to NZ in the 2000's to marry a women he met online... he ended up meeting someone else and married her instead (long story apparently)
Anyway he was a huge man and easily weighed 150kgs / 330lbs, but he had the enthusiasm and stamina of a 12 year old kid
We initially got him in the band to do a new years gig as our drummer had to leave the band suddenly.
We had a couple of rehearsals with him and he had a tama 5pc kit...... he asked guitarist how big the stage was at the place we were playing in for NYE and guitarist said it was a big stage.
I thought nothing of it, so on the day we drove to the venue (about 3 hours away) and get into the bar to find 'mad dog' had not only bought his 5pc Tama kit, but he had bought every other piece of drum equipment he owned! - 2 extra concert toms, some roto-toms, 5 mounted cowbells (yes that's 5 cowbells) some bits of an old tama electric kit, wooden blocks, mounted tambourine plus about 6 cymbals and stands.... we asked him if his wife came with him and he said "there was no room in the car"!
thankfully that's the only gig where he bought 'the works' drum set up - most other times he just bought his standard 5pc kit
