Duck Dunn has passed

Saw this thread prior to 1AM, and did a frantic search. Yes, it was true, and the bass community it poorer for it. I'd like to think there was more "magic" to share...but then I'm selfish that way. Thanks for the music and memories Mr. Dunn. You'll live on through varied media sources, and yes - you WILL be missed

I am going to smoke a pipe at my next gig in his honor. Who's with me?

+1 ...but there wont be any tobacco in there since i dont smoke.....but seriously Duck Dunn is one of the reasons i pick up the bass...after watching the blues brother movie when i was a kid i thought his thumping basslines was the bomb!!! and that signature smoking pipe was the coolest thing IMO. RIP Duck!!

Ya know.....for whatever reason.....last weekend when I was practicing a groove on my P bass I was thinking "Duck Dunn. What would Mr. Dunn play here?" Man, while this is sad news you can't help but marvel at the life he had, the people he met, played for, played with and all like us who he inspired.

God rest your soul, Mr Dunn. Thanks for the inspiration.

I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Mr. Dunn.

When I was just geting started playing bass, one of the first licks i copped was from him, and to this day I can still detect the core of that riff in so much of my own style that has evolved since the days of just copying "what ever was on the record."
(I also copied alot of what he played on those Stax records too.)

Adding my condolences to the many others who owe a lot to a great player and person.:bawl:
