I grew up in the sixties loving Duck's grooves, and have tried to approximate them in my soul band for the last 13 years. My main gigging bass is his signature Lakland. Got to see him in Memphis with the MGs and also with Neil Young. All of this is to say what a great impact this unassuming man has had on my life and so many others. Sympathies to all those who loved him. He was a gentle giant.

He died this morning in Japan after a gig in Tokyo with Steve Cropper. I was just watching his performance with Otis Redding at the Monterey Pop festival . On the expanded box set you can see the entire set. Man,was he smoking that night! We've lost another great one!! Jim
