Duct Tape Saves The Day

So Anyway, we played a gig at our local zoo as part of their concert series. Sound system was provided, but we still had to bring some gear. The setup takes some logistical maneuvering because everything has to be shuttled in on golf carts. We've played this event for a few years in a row, so we're getting better at bringing in just what we need. This year I decided to just bring my bass and a cable.
Larry 'The Jalapeno Man' guitar player didn't bring the satchel that has his guitar strap. He pulled out his buck knife and went to work fashioning a guitar strap out of Duct Tape. Seemed to work pretty well.
So whats next? Contact George Foreman to secure a Patent? Distribution rights? Duck, Gorilla or 3M as a supplier?

Nice. Shoe strings work well too. My old guitarist arrived sans strap once. I had a pair of hiking boots with extra long strings in the car. He used that shoe string for like 2 months. 13 years later I still call him Shoestrang.

Each of my instruments has a strap that lives in the case with it. I've never gone strapless. I have forgotten my pedalboard a time or two...

I have been thinking of getting out the duct tape and fixing up my checkbook here lately.

I told a buddy about needing a patent for this idea. He said we didn't need patents... we needed parents. Or at least adult supervision.
And during the first set, the drummers pedal came off the bass drum, and the singer (who's also a drummer) crawled under the kit and reattached it during the song.
I told both these slackers how lucky it was they weren't playing in Ike Turner's Kings Of Rhythm band. Somebody would surely have been pistol-whipped.

Duct tape is a must for any band and at least 1 band member must carry duct tape with them at all times

a few years ago the DI on my amp wasn't working properly at a gig, so I grabbed a spare cheap old mic off the drummer and using part of an old cymbal / tom attachment he had I managed to duct tape it to the amp head and duct tape the mic onto the other end so it was kind of facing my speaker cab... and we got through the night

I sometimes use it to attach the set list to my mic stand

Haven't had to use duct tape for music, but it ("Rigger's Tape) has been affixed to MANY military aircraft that I've ridden during my previous life.

I saw a drummer in Spain last summer who made a stick bag out of duct tape.
he was very proud of it !

Worst use; years back I had a cab with a single 15 JBL e140 (with the aluminum dust cover in the center). I typically mic'd the cab back then.

Our guitar player tried to duct tape an SM 58 directly to the cover and left a huge dent with the pop suppressor scratches right in the middle of the cover. For years I was irritated every time I looked at it. Finally got fed up and learned how to replace the cover.

One day my co-worker & I were coming back from a job that was far from our office. The radiator hose sprang a leak, so we put some gutter-caulking in the hole & wrapped it with duct tape. (part of our job supplies)
It lasted to get us back, but it bubbled up like a blister by the time we arrived.

Tried out for a band where the lead guitar didn't use a strap. Just took his shirt off and the guitar would stick to him. Metal band.

I was playing my mandolin at a gig when the internal piezo pickup came loose from the inside of the top. Duct tape to the rescue! Got me through the gig.
