Duct Tape Saves The Day

I don't have a duct tape story, but how's this for improvising -

Back in the 70's I drove an old POS Ford Pinto. It was time to leave for the gig and it was raining buckets. When I turned on the windshield wipers nothing happened. So, I drove to the gig with my window down, wiping the windshield with my hand! I got there (fortunately it wasn't too far) and the gig went OK, but I think I was a little soaked for a while.

I once used duct tape to fix a heating duct. I know. What a waste.

I keep gaffer tape in my gig bag. I haven't had to use it to fashion a strap (yet), but I've used it plenty of times to secure cables to the floor. Perhaps more interestingly, I've used it to make a giant hinge for a guitar case after two of the three real hinges broke when someone stepped on the case. I've used it to secure an amp head to the top of a speaker cabinet when it threatened to vibrate off. I've used it to secure the seat to the top of a drum stool. And once, when I played on a ferry in Auckland harbour, and was using a combo that was on castors and kept rolling around the floor as the boat rocked, I used it to stick my amp to the floor (I added a couple of castor cups to my gig bag after that).

So Anyway, we played a gig at our local zoo as part of their concert series. Sound system was provided, but we still had to bring some gear. The setup takes some logistical maneuvering because everything has to be shuttled in on golf carts. We've played this event for a few years in a row, so we're getting better at bringing in just what we need. This year I decided to just bring my bass and a cable.
Larry 'The Jalapeno Man' guitar player didn't bring the satchel that has his guitar strap. He pulled out his buck knife and went to work fashioning a guitar strap out of Duct Tape. Seemed to work pretty well.
So whats next? Contact George Foreman to secure a Patent? Distribution rights? Duck, Gorilla or 3M as a supplier?
