Admittedly, I'm a cynical old bastard but the fact that this is her first band and she felt entitled to try this would be a big red flag to me. I get the impression that all the rest of the band members are experienced pros who've been around the block a time or two (or a dozen). In a situation where she should have been laying back, concentrating on doing her job, and just keeping up, she felt like she had the right to try a power play. Sounds like a major case of "ego outstripping achievement" to me. I applaud your effort to try to make this work and I hope it does, for your sake. As for me, if a rookie tried that in a band where I was leader, he or she would be out immediately. No gender bias in that case, just way too much attitude for me to deal with. Good luck with this. I hope I am completely wrong.

Not bad points.
Here's my line of thinking.
I wanted the band to get formed and move forward. I know it has potential. In fact, I am the only guy in the band that knew all the players previously. Some of them didn't know each other.
Once we get going, and form bonds, I think all of this stuff will settle down. Worst case? She tries to pull this again. By that point, the rest of the band will be on the same page. They will likely join me in getting her to chill out. And, if she has to go, we'll keep right on going with me and keys guy on vocals.
But, honestly, I think once we get through that first show, she'll understand completely how special (on a local level anyway) this band could be.
Short version. I banking on this. The longer we're together, the more we'll all like each other and pull together. But I had to get us together first.
