Esp anything off illusion. To pull off the Duff, your chorus pedal will need a chorus pedal.
I don't think OP has any of those concerns with his 40w combo.ha, at first I thought the thread title referred to some new kind of thuddy, dub type tone ... funny
Duff Beer maybe ?
sorry for the derail/of topic humor
good luck OP, it can be tricky to get the exact tone of a specific player like McKagen (or anyone else) because what you hear on studio recordings is typically the result of the original bass signal being processed through quite a bit of studio gear (compressors, preamps, filters, re-amping, doubling, etc etc). And it is often the case that the bass the artists in question is most known for is not the one used for recording.
Even live tone these days tends to be processed to an unbelievable degree .. and then it is run through huge PA rigs that also add their own sonic flavor.
So it can be a tough process. Sometimes getting in the ballpark is your most likely outcome.
what do you mean .. Duff Beer ?I don't think OP has any of those concerns with his 40w combo.

Nice!
For the record, I love his Spaghetti tone. Down on the Farm showcases it pretty well.

to me the bass on Sweet Child o' Mine is the pinnacle. Bass just as forward and tonefull as anything else while holding down the bottom. Why did that go out of fashion?Best song on Spaghetti IMO. Easily one of my favourite performances from Duff too.
I know it's not what he used, but I find combining a chorus with a BF-2 gets me close to the Coma tone than just a chorus by itself.
I just LOL'd for real reading that, almost spit my coffee out. The corona pedal does pretty well for me now. Def nails some of that illusions tone.To pull off the Duff, your chorus pedal will need a chorus pedal.
Yup, that opening bass line is one of the reasons I fell in love with bass and the intro bass to jungle (which I believe is very under appreciated).to me the bass on Sweet Child o' Mine is the pinnacle.
