Duff sound

That's awesome! Duff is my favorite player who is in my favorite band. I bought appetite when it came out. My 800 was made same time appetite was recorded.
I have a set of pickups from a Duff Sig in several basses and actually have a set for sale. 3 of my basses have original large pile jbs pups in em.
I thought he would've boosted high mids and even the treble. Maybe his basses already had enough of those frequencies plus IME the GKs are High Mid forward to begin with.
Looks like he runs a similar rig to mine with different pedal needs. Fender P+J into GK RB series head into some 10's (he adds some 12's too I think)
Having the tbx on the bass really let's you boost the treble, and it's a mid voiced bass to Begin with.

A touch of chorus. Can't tell you which one. But his isolated tracks on youtube as well as "You Could be Mine" and "Sweet Child o' Mine" for references. The touch of chorus gave him that signature semi-clean clank you hear.

Served as a good reference point. Duff is a pretty agressive player and that definitely plays a part. He loves his octaves as well lol. Ive found that all RB heads have the same basic sound, the main issue is, to get that sound, you need to hit the rails. To hit the rails, you need to push the Poweramp part. Doing that means cranking the master which means alot of vol. With the 1001, 2001 that gets tough as it becomes too loud.
I used a 1001 series 1 at one time as it had less power. I use 2 8x10s with the 2001 but plan to switch to 2 stacks of RBH 4x10 and 1x15s. That's what's so great about the 400rb, can push it hard without being too loud.
I think you should learn how to use the amp you have. Forge a tone that you like and make it your own. One day some one might post asking how to get Jeremy’s tone.

When I first got to Canada and finally joined a band my amp was a used Sansui 5000 receiver. It had inputs for a microphone and I plugged into that. At 50W per channel into a 2x12 one per channel it worked. it also had the advantage that as soon as I set it up I could turn it to FM and we all could have music while we finished setting up.

Yes cabinets do make fine “step” ladders - as long as you don’t fall off!
