Thanks, i did a couple of GN'R tribute gigs. I influenced heavily on Duffs playing style & sound. IMO there isn't a better rock sound. Ther's plenty of good tones but you can recognize that tone anytime.

I'm with ya on that. Great driving tone, very groovy and keeps the motion going while not interfering with the guitar. My all time favorite player. I've never been able to get a GNR tribute together so ended up with Motley Crue lol
I excellent at that part. Crue has been my band since 85 but Guns is a whole different thing.
This is our GN'R cover recorded couple of yrs ago. Shame on us but we don't really prepared for the recording, just bored.
Very nice sound all round. The upper licks stand out nicely.
Cool cover, i bet one of the most authentic Crue tribute act. I used to play on Thunderbird. I like it's brutal weight. You can't forget that something's on your shoulder.
To be exact Duff is from a fully musician family..some of them played horns->funk...
His background as a guitar player is a very popular approach but if you listen his basslines you can find a lot of funky fills.
My point of view is that every rock band needs a funky bass player. Duff nailed it with his basslines.
He's not a solid funk player but i bet he's influenced heavily by funk...e.g. Sly & the Family Stone, Prince, Cameo.
If you listen these artist & R&B you will find a lot of impact on his playing.
He's said many times, his playing on appetite was a nod to that stuff. He had Steven listen to slot of cameo, sly, ect. Let's not forget Duff was touring on punk bands at 14/15 on guitar and drums. More than many middle age bass players have done.
The fact that he played drums more important than he played guitar. That's why the bass drum-bass work is outstanding on Appetite (and UYI as well)

I had an SPX-90 for a while, but for some reason all the choruses in there sounded too flangey, so I got fed up with it and put it back on Ebay.

It has all arrived today, i am definitely a lot closer to the Duff sound now. Been jamming along to the live album for hours.
