The MBE's are neo, but not set up for biamp. Try your amp with a standard speaker cord or speakon, and turn the biamp feature off on your head.
So ... apparently I bought a Gallien-Krueger 410MBE 800W 4x10 Ultralight Bass Speaker Cabinet with Horn and a Gallien-Krueger 100RB ... and it sounds like crap! Not bright, no growl, just crappy.

... hard to believe. I've played RB1001s at multiple instances and they sound fantastic. Suspect a pilot error or a 5% chance something is wrong with the pre-amp in case you did a proper A/B test.

Looks that way..... My 1001RB II can be bright, has growl and doesn't sound crappy, something is just not right here...
Yes exactly, The MBE series uses NEO drivers and a piezo horn. The NEO Series cabs are NEO drivers and a dynamic compression horn (not piezo) and G-K H.M.S. (bi-amp) with a crossover for non G-K bi-amp system use. Two different series of cabs. But I am beginning to think the used amp head has troubles unless he has ignored the advice about the switches?

I still suspect some level of user error, but that aside, this is exactly why I always recommend hands on playing time with ANY amp, cab, bass, etc, before buying. I understand it's difficult for some, depending on where they live, but nonetheless, still of utmost importance. I wish the op good luck in resolving the issue.
Hello. I just bought a used Gallien Krueger 1001RB (Gallien-Krueger 1001RB-II 700/50W Biamp Bass Head | Musician's Friend) and a brand new Gallien Krueger Neo 410 ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]) .
Power to groove ... Sounds great, right?
Problem is it all sounds DULL! Really, really dull. I got 700W of dullness!
Like if my strings were two years old and I've played 5 times a week. Does anyone know anything about this?
Bummer, my guess is you bought someone's lemon - I'd send it all back, or sell it.
To complete this journey, I connected the GK1001RB to an old Behringer 2x12 cab. It sounds absolutely different, powerful, punchy and growly. I'm sorry to say the NEO 410 is useless, it sounds like cardboard. Thank you for all your advice/reactions.

The MB 410 is a budget cab but it's at least as good or better than anything that says behringer on it. I bet it was either mis-wired out of polarity or had a couple blown drivers. Use a speaker cable with 1/4" plugs on the ends. Plug one end into the speaker and touch the terminals of a 9 volt battery, one to the tip and one to the sleeve of the plug on the end you would normally plug in the amp. When you do that, they all should move AND move all in the same direction. Example, if they all move out, when you flip the battery around and touch it the opposite way, they should all move in. If any are moving in opposite direction from the others, it's wired wrong. If any don't move at all, they're blown.
Check that and see if you can either fix the wiring or in the case of blown drivers, return it.

Miss-wired, blown or shipping damage. The 10" drivers are the same in the MBE 410 as in the NEO 410.

Agreed. See if it's something simple that can be corrected before you give up on it. It might be an easy fix that can have you back in business in no time.
I'm having an issue with my GK. My rig - 1001 RB-II, SWR Workingman's Tower 8x10 - typically sounds freakishly good. Plugged in yesterday, my brightness was gone. Sounded very blah, kind of like my former Ampeg rig. 
Seriously though, on my cab, I've got the tweeter all the way up. Turned the woofer down and the tweeter up on the amp, I've got absolutely nothing. Should be getting at least something through the tweeter, got nothing. Did continuity test on my speakon, came back good. Think my tweeter amp may be down.

It's not a gk neo cab, it's mbe. Please don't talk negative about gk neo cabs because those are awesome, thank you.

Unless you are using a 4 conductor speakon cable like G-K's AND have rewired your cab to send the 2+,2- connections to the tweeter in the cab, the tweeter amp in your 1001RB II is not even connected to your speaker cab.
You may have blown the tweeter in your SWR cab.
