Dunwich Amplification General Discussion

Hey guys, big fan of the Dunwich Pedals, next purchase is for sure going to be a VT, my question is does the builder do them in batches, therefore I just gotta wait it out until they go up for sale again or until someone sells one in the classifieds? Just starting to get into the pedals small builders build, and I only have experience with Damnation.

You can ask for custom, my wait for custom can be as long as the next batch. It depends.

Question for anyone who has owned an ODB

Do you feel it can achieve a kind of vintage/bluesy OD kind of like Jack Bruce/Cream kind of tone?

I didn't find that with my setup when I had an ODB. It was more crunchy, emphasized the pick attack and upper mids more than what I associate with a vintage-y tone

yes, dial the treble almost all the way down, and turn up the bass, mosfet clipping.

For the Jack Bruce thing, if I'm not using a muff-style fuzz set dark, then I prefer an od/distortion pedal that has pre-OD low-end boost. And same as Gent I prefer to use the ODB for punchy mids and presence. So, I wouldn't say that the ODB is the easiest way to get to Cream Town :D. That said, it can get close enough via bassboysam's idea. For me, I set the right switch either up or down (not middle), left switch down (mosfet), bass cranked, mids cut back some only boosted a bit, treble cut back a lot.

FYI the mid is boost only so you can't actually cut. you would need to boost bass and treble and set the mid to minimum to get a mid cut.

My mini Wizard is done! Mucho anticipation on this one! I've wanted to try one for some time but the full-size would have to knock way too many pedals off my board. It seems like a very unique sounding fuzz compared to most and that's what drew me to it. In some demos it has a cocked wah kind of vibe and in others it sounds literally like a running souped up engine. Very excited!

This. Absoluelty yes. Don't think I have any use for a blend on fuzz (the opposite of how I use fuzz), but that size is perfect

I like the looks of that Wizard Fuzz.... looking forward to it going into production.

Edit: @donahue... please report back on how you like the blend on the WF.

The blend was an added bonus. I told Mr. Nick that it would be used primarily for bass and he offered to put a blend on. My 1st rule of custom pedals: do not turn down added features :)

I haven't received the pedal yet. I will post my impressions after some use. I use to run my Bluebeard with a blender and it was useful for very high gain. You can retain your bass "clean" signal and blend in extreme distorted tones. It adds a dimension to the tone of solid low tones and high end sizzle. Kind of like having two basses playing simultaneously. Not something I always do but useful nonetheless.
