Anybody use an ODB for thrash/death tones? Trying to coax some from my ODB but with no luck so far. For reference, my favorite tone for those styles so far is my B3K, but I’m trying to have different pedals on my second board, hence the ODB.
The beauty of the ODB is that it’s so natural sounding. For me it’s like the Klon of bass. It can get huge and brutal, just not very harsh. I’d think something like a modded HM2 would get you what you’re looking for.

A lot of old thrash tones were bright and had a lot of bite to them. The ODB is a great low to mid gain tone, which is fine for thrash. However, the OCD circuit is a little dark and mushy in the attack for what you want, I think.
The Volt Thrower is a gritty distortion with a fair amount if articulation. That might be a better candidate.
A Tube Screamer curcuit would also work well, but to the best if my knowledge DA has only made one, and I have it ;).

Thanks guys! I have a Volt Thrower as well. It’s my “fuzz” for that board, and does quite well in that role. A little more trebley, but controllable. I use flats, so I’m not going for tons of bite. Maybe it is the attack that’s a little loose for my tastes on the ODB. I’m trying to get it rounder, if that makes sense. It seems flat to me. I think I have the treble where I want it, but not the bass. Maybe it’s as simple as increasing the bass, though I doubt it.

Thanks again for the info.

Flats for Thrash? That's an interesting choice. Most of the 80s tones were very aggressive and high-mids forward.
If you want something dark with a lot of rumble, the ODB will do that. It has less gain and sizzle than the VT. It does a pretty good imitation of a pushed V4B or SVT-CL.
