ACTUALLY, I own the first ODB 125b ;) I havent opened mine up yet. Maybe mine is #000? I'll have to have a look when I get to my practice space next week.

#000 arrived yesterday, and so now I own it. :D

It is now sitting on my board, having rapidly become one of my faves. It's the first time I've tried an ODB, and I've been wanting to for a while. Love the character of the hard clipping, a great coarse meaty crunch and grind....sounds even better feeding it into other distortion pedals.

I note that a few of these have changed hands in the last year or so....maybe the character of the distortion is not exactly what some were looking for, but I have to say it's an absolute winner for me.

Just goes to show there's no "one size fits all" in dirt land.

Agreed on ODB...hands down my favorite overdrive. I just got ahold of a 125B and although I haven’t done exhaustive A/Bing I found the bigger one to be more pleasing at first blush. I have heard that they are identical but when I dial them in with the same settings they sound different to my ears...VERY close but my bigger one has a bit more warmth, or roundness, or beef (impossible to describe sound) and although the nuance isn’t huge, there is little question that they sound different. I haven’t opened them up so maybe there are some internal pits that are set differently? Both sound great though.

Might be down to parts tolerance variations.

Like how on a MTB some tires are easy to pull off a rim (and put on) and others are a bugger, when repairing a flat tire.

Like how chicken cordon-bleu tastes different from one restaurant to the next (or even the same restaurant, depending on which chef prepared it).

Like how two EHX Muffs within a couple of serial numbers of each other (or one directly after another, #51 & #52) will sound different from each other.

Like how a car made in the middle of the week will drive for 100,000s of miles trouble free, and a car made on Hangover Monday or Can't-wait-for-the-weekend Friday is a Lemon.

Like how Identical Twins are never truly perfectly identical...

It’s more like ordering the appetizer version and main course version of the same meal and they taste different, but yeah...I am not mad...just more reason to keep both :hyper:

Lol...I should probably start WAY smaller. Like a mute switch. I would love to see one of you experienced DIYers make it. I would happily follow your build thread.

I haven’t compared it to the big box version first hand.

Plus, it is the prototype 125B version, so it may well differ in some respects from the subsequent production run (I haven’t tried one of them either). It appears the clipping LED differs from the big box version at least.

I’m pretty well versed in the realm of the Dunwich... and I agree. It’s also the same with my MBD1 and 2.

What I am planning on doing is setting up a place everyone can order the PCBs from and then on the side I will try to coordinate with the builder going verification so that people might be able to buy etched enclosures for the projects.

Now there will not be any guides for the DIY, its just going to be schematics, PCBs, and drill layouts (possibly enclosures to buy with the drill guides on them already with artwork). Its going to be up to people to figure out the work. I don't have the time to develop all of the guide info and since I am not looking for any money there isn't any incentive for me to pursue it.
