Test run CCW, improves headroom indeed, and seems modifying Para's voicing as well, with different mids and top-end content. Found myself turning these knobs past noon, and switching off the filter-EQ pedal (Broughton RFE) i used after the Para to keep its mids under control and adding some fatness. Really nice.

As side-note, using the Para with a Stingray. Found it being a very sensitive pedal to instrument's output.

I did the same today and thought it cleaned things up a bit. I like it.

I did some scratch recording/practice tonight with the Parabellum and my 4003 Ric. My buddy sent some guitar riffs, and I was able to match a couple up with midi drums patterns and a Master Of Puppets era drum engine. I had to play some bass before I sent things back to him :) Unfortunately, I struggled to write a bass part I liked and could execute cleanly so I don’t have anything I can share at this point. However, I was pretty impressed with the sound from the Parabellum. I tried a few other pedals and basses, searching for a complimentary sound for the guitar tone I had to work with. The Ric and Parabellum is probably going to do the trick here. The tone is one I might’ve dismissed when playing solo, but it seems to work, so I’m going with it.

I’ve got the riff slowed down from the original 155 BPM to about 100 BPM. I’m getting accustomed to how it sounds slowed down, but I’d like to work my way up to the original 155.

Any words on the new Does It Doom pedal that Steve has been talking about that you helped on? I've been moderately curious about the Does It Doom brand, but hearing that you leaned in on a pedal turns the moderately into a very curious.

Its not too complicated. The base is a JFET Laney Supergroup preamp. The one knob blends in a rangemaster signal from 0% to 100%. Very much an Tony in a Box and you can get various types of Sabbath guitar sounds from the albums.
Not sure its a bass weapon but I never actually tried it on bass. It was not the design goal.
I designed the circuit and then Steve and I tuned it until we were happy.

I love the simplicity.

It's so cool that @dunwichamps is involved in so many things these days. It's like the seal of "this is gonna be bada$$" and so far there haven't been any disappointments that I've heard about. I owuldn't mind getting in on a parabellum at some point too.

My buddy got a cheap new mini headphone amp that plugs directly into the guitar jack so he could riff away anywhere. He sent over a short clip to show me what the distortion sounded like, and I couldn’t resist adding drums and bass. I used a Dingwall D Bird and the Parabellum. Nothing fancy going on with the playing. Just sharing since there haven’t been any Parabellum sounds shared yet.

Couldn't be happier of what i get from these : FFxL'd Para -> Quicksilver -> CaliCB -> Locust Star. Fast release on the Cali seals the deal, and LS on no-diode position adds some extra-cutting mids if needed - not using it much i reckon. Highly recommend trying the Para with the FFxL. Phase switching and hpf filters strongly help me finding a sweetspot, only switch-flicking the Para to make it fitting what we're playing, and keeping strong and non-farty lows no matter the bass i'm using. Thought first the Para would be my always-on slight breakup tone, which in fact is my QS. The Para stays though, pairs amazingly well with the QS and adds its unique rich&raw tone when needed.

Sooo .... I've made an Apostle. Had to troubleshoot this one, as I ran into some grounding issues, but it's up and running now and sounds like this. (biased @ 4.5V)

Same old boring test loop. Volume (3/10), treble and bass (around noon) don't move. I just bring up/down boost, then gain, while having a bit of both .... then switch the tone stack (at 0:40) and do the same thing again.
This thing is LOUD!!! I dig it.



One question though @dunwichamps : what's up with that 10u (film) cap (C2)? The only one I found where I buy components was so big, that I had to wire it off board. No problem there, just wondering ...
And of course: thanks for sharing that design.
