It sounds like it's possibly being revised and updated to simplify the build process. Not exactly "discontinued."

No problem. I've occasionally pinged Seth about what he's up to and I think he's publicly commented that the build for the v1 versus the "benefit" of the design was not clearly worth it (I like the v2 better so I'm biased about the result). I don't think I'm letting the cat out of the bag by saying my impression is that he's just looking to streamline production for his one man operation. He's got the amp design he's working on too, so it's understandable

I owned both at the same time. They are similar sounding. Obviously v2 doesn't have the same boost switches so it has less EQ control but v2 has plenty of range. V2 was much easier to dial in with my basses than v1 so I sold v1.

I've been neglecting my Modded HM-2, so it's been on the board for the last few jams. I realized I was not fully understanding the EQ section, but now I think I've figured it out, and I love this thing! Both switches on No Clip, and both mid controls at max sounds awesome to me. Bass and treble seem to have the best balance around noon, but rolling the bass back accentuates the "throaty" midrange in a really cool way.

This is kinda Dunwich related... Im looking for some extra knobs like the ones on the Parabellum v1 to replace the knobs on an ODB.

These are the knobs Im looking for:

They're simple & sleek, tall & thin. Ive not seen anything like them scrolling through sites & considering the knobs on the Parabellum v2 are custom I assume these may be custom as well but thought Id give it a shot. Has anyone seen knobs like these available somewhere?

Sandblasted Aluminum Knob - "The Pantherkill" - 18T Knurled Shaft (10mm OD)

These are 10 mm outer dimension, and fit a knurled shaft, just like the v1 Parabellum. The only thing is they may be a mm or two shorter, can't be sure.

Seems strange coming from a company that bought out the designs of an independent brand and sells multiple pedals that are transparently derived from other circuits - HM-2, Rat, OCD, FZ-2...

Also, the cthulu is based on the fuzz face circuit to start and the knobs on the DOD circuit don't even have the same functions. Magic can't claim that having a fuzz and output knob on fuzz is a ripoff, as that's standard. The Cthulu's third knob is depth (pushing lows into the front of the circuit) while the DOD's is a tone knob to roll of highs after. Sounds like they are stretching for likeness beyond having deep sea imagery.

Yeah I'm not sure what Magic is thinking with these accusations. I could understand if the DOD pedal was a direct ripoff, but it's a different circuit, different enclosure, different art, and different name. I'm pretty sure Magic doesn't have a trademark on the Cthulhu name or image either...

Plus, out of all the people to go after in the guitar pedal world, you're going to take a shot at Tom Cram? Everything I've seen has shown him to be a stand-up guy.

I suppose in a broad sense it is quite the coincidence that there are two fuzz pedals using the Cthulhu name and imagery, so I could see some interpretation of encroachment by the recent entry. That said, diving into the details of intellectual property for the name, image, and/or circuit design seems like treacherous waters to navigate. Neither party is the originator of Cthulhu and I believe the name is in the public domain.
