So Steve,

How far away from your bass position was the amp (in the corner of the room)? Do you have any problems with feedback in this system?

I'd LOVE to blend a mic with my p/u's...it's just -- that means another $1000 or so (in addition to the $1000+ for one of the Wizzy combos) for the fab rig you have!

Of course, if I took all the money I've spent on my electric rig...I could have some choice gear on upright...but my electric gigs are the ones paying the bills right now!

Jason, thanks for saying nice things about my setup. In the situation I was describing, I was about 4 or 5 feet from my amp. Yes, I could sense low-end feedback swelling a little at times, but only when the amp was pointing right at my bass. High-end squealing mic feedback was not a problem either, because the room is real noisy and I didn't have the AMT up too much. I was getting most of the volume from the Rev SOLO, and just using the mic to add a little air and some dimension to the sound, and to help bring out the articulation a little better.

I remember thinking how pleased I was with my sound that night. Then I thought, well I oughta be: Wizzy combo + Solstice + AMT + Rev SOLO = ~ $2,200. But IMO in this case you really do get what you pay for.

I still don't have mine, but last night I played in Key Arena before and during half time at the Sonics game. We played sort of over a bar on level 2 of 3 with people above and below us and stairs going every which way. No question it was one of the most interesting sonic places I've ever played. I had some house support, but sounded very unnaturall with my GK.

I'm doing it again on the 19th and hope to have my Wizzy by then to compare. I can't think of a better testing grounds, except maybe the same stage without sound support.

Key, have you had a chance to compare?
BTW, great pun about the interesting "sonic" places.

Huh. I had a 1970. Bought it for $500. Sold it 3 years later for $500. Best transportation value in my life.
