I'm playing Scruffy City Hall on 1/16 and Barley's on 2/20. This tends to be the slow season for my outfits.
Link Removed is performing in North Carolina this month. Tomorrow night at Feed & Seed in Fletcher, and at Carolina BBQ in Newland on the 23rd. Bluegrass and fiddle tune aficionados at both venues, which makes them good gigs, though way different.
Speaking of NC, I auditioned for a band in Asheville this week. We formed a mutual admiration society, but I decided not to take the gig--the drive to the rehearsal space is two hours, one way. I get to Johnson City and Knoxville once a week, about, for other things, and I need to be looking for more cost efficient opportunities.
They're looking for a permanent member... If anyone follows this thread and lives near Mills River, Fletcher, Arden, or IN Asheville, they're a great bunch of people. And talented.

The Open Chord was the cleanest, classiest, best sounding, stage and lighting AWESOME, best food and beverages (coffee shop to beer).... place I've ever played at!! We have gotta support this place and keep it open!!! Absolutely loved it!
Hey East TN. brethren; I have ordered an Aguilar Tone Hammer Preamp pedal as a backup for the one we use now at church. But I have decided to use something else as a backup. So, if anybody is interested in a BRAND NEW NEVER USED STILL IN THE BOX Tone Hammer Pedal just PM me and maybe we can work something out. I would rather sell it locally than ship if possible. I am also looking for a Tech 21 Sansamp ParaDriver DI Preamp or one of the Eden pedal preamps if anybody wanted to do a partial trade. Just hit me up!!

I think that Talkbass is once again messed up. I have not gotten any thread update notices since I posted last on Jan. 9. I logged in tonight to see if anything has been going on, and it's good to see that people have been posting in the thread.
Thanks for the word on Open Chord, Jody. What's been happening with Annandale?
We've been playing a lot (for people with fulltime jobs) of out of town shows. Financially, it's been hard! Chad will be touring with his other band Luminoth for the next 2 months, opening for 10 Years all over the US. It'll give me time to get back on top of my bills and work on writing new songs with the lead guitarist and female vocalist. In April, we'll start performing again, mostly out of town. Knoxville is losing venues because people aren't supporting their bands. It's a real shame!
Oh... be expecting some live performance recordings, video and audio, in the near future. We've also partnered up with Coldcock Whiskey... exciting things coming!! And for the future of original Knoxville music, GO SUPPORT THE FEW REMAINING VENUES, especially The Open Chord. And support the bands too!!

Hey, fellow Eastern Tennessee-ers, just wanted to make you aware that I have a Fender American Standard Jazz 5 string up for sale right now, in case you or someone you know might be on the lookout for one. I have it listed on several places, in the classifieds here as well as on Knoxville Craigslist. I wrecked my car this past Tuesday on Alcoa Highway while taking my wife—who doesn't yet drive proficiently because she spent her entire adult life in NYC—to work. She works at the VA. It never closes regardless of weather, war or plague.

Dude, that sucks. I hope everyone was all right. We were shut-ins for a few days until the ice melted over here in Greene County. It was treacherous.
Smoky Mountain Bluegrass is playing for St. John's "Chasing the Snakes" fundraiser in Johnson City on 3/13, where we're reinventing ourselves as an Irish Folk Trio just for the occasion; then we're down in North Carolina for a couple of things over the next few months. Not a ton going on.
I did just land the bass chair for RENT at the Johnson City Community Theater, which runs in June. Extremely excited about it. I worked up "Santa Fe" for my audition piece; wicked fun.
