Jeff- I didn't know you played theatre shows also! Congrats on getting the Rent chair. It's a challenging show, to say the least!

I played it here in Knoxville back in 2011. Santa Fe is the oddest thing, it's very groovy but it's hard to get the fingering going with the position shifts! I played the show on my G&L L-2500 as I found I couldn't get the position shifts to flow on a four-string bass. And it's all you, so if you play it well it makes you sound like a genius, and if you screw up the flow, it's obvious. I had a hard time mentally with that song. Finally going into the third weekend, I was able to relax and play it well. I made a few changes in the song that made it flow better, so I encourage you to do the same as opposed to trying to get it note-for-note accurate to the score.

I think my favorite song was La Vie Boheme. That song just kept modulating up and up and up - there must be seven key changes in it. But it's a great riff and the energy of the song builds and builds.

I loved that show. It's very offbeat still, imagine what the reaction was like when it first came out on Broadway.

Staying home and enjoying the snow wasn't an option for me. Less than 25% of our workforce showed up some days, so I got out of the office and made parts. Relaxing work compared to what I do normally, but we are way behind. Mandatory weekends and gigging don't mix so I'm in desperate need of down time.

Hey East TN bass comrades...... I have a nice, like new, Mono M80 gig bag I'm selling, locally only. This is the cadillac of gig bags? Sells on Amazon for $210. Selling for $100. It might be a violation to mention this here in this forum, but you'd never likely stumble across it elsewhere on TB. And I'm not going to ship this thing. Grab it.....

I have a pair of Alesis Alpha 112 powered speakers.
Was thinking about letting one go.
Great as a stage monitor at the club or at church or for amplifying modelers like the 11r, Line6, Flyrig 5, Axe-fx, etc.
I figured one is enough for me.
Wanted to let the locals know.
I'm in Maryville and go to Knoxville twice a day.
Asking a mere $180.

How we all doing in here?

State Street Rhythm Section has been less busy as of late, per request of myself and drummer Steve - playing 1 or 2 gigs a month plus have given some of the *******ier places to play the boot either because they suck or don't pay enough or both :)

Hope everyone is enjoying the tunes at Rhythm N Blooms this weekend.

Didn't mean to ignore you. I was going back through posts and saw this. Apparently, I missed it the first time around. We play some of the standard funk/disco/soul that you hear everywhere, but also do a lot of the old 70s tunes that no one around here seems to be doing, which is fun. Not much else to tell; we don't have a promo pack or videos, and while we were playing out regularly, that has slowed down to about one gig a month. :( Our next scheduled gig is at Hard Rock in Pigeon Forge on May 22nd.

Hey Michael and my East TN. Brethren!! I apologize for taking so long to answer your post from way back in March. I am still battling this sickness I have and it has been going on since June of last year so it is almost a year now. I have been fortunate enough to get to play with my church praise team Bread For Beggars some lately (on electric guitar). My daughter plays bass full time now for the band. It is doubtful due to my health that I will ever get to play more than just at church sometimes. I hope things take a turn for the better and we are praying for it for sure.

On another side note, I have some gear up for sale/trade if anybody is interested. I am downsizing my home PA system that I used for my church band to practice with the last few years. So I will be letting go of the following items:
Carvin 32 Channel Mixer
DBX Driverack
Also have some smaller items.
Marshall Amplification Rare Accessories Gig Bag
(6) Hipshot Tuners 3/8 Ultralites Brand New
Also have a MIA Peavey Cirrus 6 string bass for sale/trade.

Barry- thanks for checking in here. I'm planning on giving you a call and introducing myself and hearing about what's going on with you. I'm sorry that you're having these health concerns and hope they will be resolved.

Good luck on your gear sales, hopefully we have some ETTB people who are interested in the gear you're selling. I can't imagine that some would not want that Cirrus. Those are very nice basses! Post more details about it.

I've been playing A Little Night Music, a Sondheim show, at Oak Ridge Playhouse since back in April. We just wrapped our second weekend today and will be playing it Friday and Saturday nights next weekend, and a Sunday matinee to conclude the show.

I picked up a "blonde" Douglas viola fretted bass from Rondo Music back in December. I set it up with black nylon tapewounds and it's performed beautifully for the show, running it through my Genz 9.2 head and one of the Acme B-1 Series III cabs. Very nice setup with our show band.

We hope to hear from more of everyone the next few days.

All quiet here on ETTB the past month. Is anyone gigging from now till the end of June? Any gear up for sale or trade? We gotta keep this thread going..

Or did everyone take a month vacation to Florida and not tell me about it?? :) I wanted to go too!
