I gig all the time, if you call playing at church gigging.

I may have a spotless Greenboy F115 with cover. I'll be testing a prototype cab here shortly which will likely replace it.

As for basses, everything I have stays for now. I'm currently on a 3 bass rotation because, what is bass playing without whimsy? ;)


I'll be posting up some Fender parts and accessories but have to dig through it all first.

I could potentially sell a beautiful Hamer Cruise Bass 5-string with 2Tek bridge…
an EBMM 4-string Sterling…
and/or an EBMM 6-string Silhouette Bass currently set up in baritone tuning (A to A)

Then there are several guitars, all in exceptional to mint condition:
EBMM Steve Morse Standard
G&L S-500
Ibanez RG-1550M
and an EBMM Albert Lee HH

I'm in Maryville, but also trip to Knoxville twice daily.

No gigs in June, but two in July: 18th with Split Decision at Roosters and the 24th with Killroy at Restaurant Linderhof. I have a 1999 German-made Warwick Streamer Standard 5-string with Agular preamp and Bartolini pickup that I could be talked out of or would consider trade for an acoustic electric bass.

Finishing up the last two weekends of RENT with the Johnson City Community Theatre these next two (fun being in the pit with the guys; good charts, and the musical has a young cast that really kills it); the show goes on without me as Smoky Mountain Bluegrass helps host the Down Home's 40th anniversary party this Friday.

July 2 we're playing Bluegrass on Broad in Kingsport, then we've got Friday and Saturday, July 3 & 4 out on the deck at Riverplace on the Clinch in Kyles Ford. Lovely place, lovely staff and crowd, but don't waste your money on the ribeye "special"--the farmhouse burger is a way better bet!

Edit: Almost forgot: I have a 2010 Fender Road Worn Jazz available if anyone's in the market for a lightweight, great playing J. Have a lined fretless neck that could come with it.

Yeah, unless there's something new in Knoxville, the Open Chord is as good as it gets. Smoky Mountain Guitars in Pigeon Forge is cool if you're into bluegrass, but it's all high end acoustic instruments, and few to no basses. Smoky Mountain Knifeworks is decent, as well.

What's the move about? Work or retirement? Is Gatlinburg the center of your search radius, or just a nice place to check out?

If you're interested in thoughts about the area, everyone on this sub forum would gladly tell you more about this corner of Heaven.

Agreed. Lots of good spots in Blount County, you get the scenery/beauty without the high traffic

The move is more about a quality of life change for my family. I will need to find work in the area. I'm looking on the east side of the state in general. NY is bleeding residents dry in overtaxation and BS. I have 2 young kids and I want to get them started somewhere they can enjoy life and not have to spend every waking moment worried about $$$.

Hear that a lot from folks moving here, they want to improve their quality of life. I like those reports, makes me feel like I found the "secret" without even looking lol!

I've lived many places and East Tennessee and Western North Carolina are top of the list for beautiful, wonderful places to live.

For music stores, Nashville is 3 hours from Knoxville and has two outstanding stores for basses. One is Corner Music which carries G&L, Mike Lull, Lakland and others. And don't underestimate the Guitar Center in Nashville which I'm told is the #1 GC in the chain. It has walls of affordable basses and always has some very expensive vintage gear as well. It's a great place to try out a lot of different things to add to your general education in case you are offered a trade some day or see a deal on Craig's list. They've gotten a lot of my paychecks.

Murfreesboro is 40 minutes from Nashville and the Low End has stuff you just won't see anywhere else. Take a vacation and go there if that's the only way you can justify it. The last time I was there was a few years ago so things may have changed, but at that time they didn't have many amps - just an amazing array of basses. Where else are you going to see an Atlansia?

There's also a nice bass store in Atlanta which is 4 hours from Knoxville. Sorry, I don't remember the name, but I'm sure it can be found with a search. I believe it was in Marietta which is on the northern part of Atlanta. They had a great amp section as well as basses.

That's crazy that you can work 15 hours less and come out nearly even! It's a shame I love the upstate NY region but the whole state is controlled by NYC politics which I rarely find my self in agreement with. Now the hard part is locating work, and not having the connections I've worked on for the last 25 years lol.
